Alvarado's Classic Modern Pin-ups Hardcover – October 25, 2011

This book is really great. The photographer takes some really good shots, and to me he is one of my fav. photographers.It really lives up to the title, classic modern pin-ups. The models are everything from punk style, little goth and some with tattoos. And some are just plain good old fashioned ones without ink etc.The light work is really great, and the pictures are printed on thick paper, so its not any low quality at all. And there is some introduction about the photographer at the start, about his work etc.So when I first decided to order this book, I could barely wait to get it. And when I first got it, and held it in my hands, I knew from the first page that this was quality work all the way.If you like pin-ups, and tattooed women in sexy and awesome outfits, then this is something you should get. But I would recommend to check out the photographer and his work on the internet so you can see what kind of work he does beforehand.Hope someone else enjoyed this as much as I did.

MORE!!! This is just a teaser of the wealth of pictures by Alvarado that are out there. All we can hope for is More and Soon. A Complete works if possible. The pics look airbrushed to Rockwellian perfection. If you like the Elvgren style well Alvarado is a master of what he does. The influential parents that influenced this creative spirit are clearly defined in his work. BUY THIS BOOK if you are into pure eye candy. The colors are striking and the work is very well carried out. I have seen racier shots from alvarado on the web. More of the bondage style pinups and shocking subjects (without going overboard ofcourse)and this book clearly stays on the cleaner side. It works for me...buy it and make up your own mind!! Enjoy.

I'm very pleased with the quality of this book. It's a large hardcover with dust jacket. Inside, the pages are thick and crisp like you'd hope. I'm familiar with Alvarado's work, and the images themselves are vibrant and beautiful. It's really nice to see them in high resolution on paper. One more note: this book is 100% pictures and 0% text.

Bought this for my wife. She recently discovered Alvarado on InstaGram and quickly fell in love with his photography. I cam across this book by happenstance and knew immediately that I had to get it for her. The photography is stunning and the models are beautiful. The book is hardbound and made to last.

Good to see that the pin up style is still around and looks great. Modren work with a little classic touch works great. Fans of classic pin up style and people new to it will love alvarado.

Got this as a gift for my girlfriend. Great quality photos, makes an excellent coffee table book.

米国はカリフォルニア在住の写真家/レタッチャーの Robert Alvarado のピンナップ作品集。ほぼ1ページに1作品ずつ、150点にちょっと足りない数の作品が収められています。彼の作品の特徴は、写真にレタッチを施してイラスト調に仕立てる作風です。かつてのピンナップアートの巨匠アルベルト・ヴァルガスやジル・エルヴグレンの衣鉢を継ぐ、セクシーなチャームとグラマーをムンムン醸し出す女性たちの姿絵が、写真とレタッチという現代的手法で描かれています。レタッチというと、修正写真のように手を加えた痕跡をなるたけ残さないものを想像するでしょうが、Robert の場合はあえて色やフォルムを強調していて、写真とイラストの中間をいくような感じです。着色写真のようなものから、ほとんど写真と変わらないものまで、その振れ幅は広いです。自分は趣味で Photoshop をやっていて、同じように写真に手を加えて作品化するのが趣味でして、それでこの作品集に興味を持ち購入した次第ですが、ピンナップアートが好きな方なら誰でも楽しめると思います。尚、本書にはヌードも収められていますが、乳頭もアンダーヘアも隠したソフトなものばかりです。(他の作品集にはトップレスも収録されているようです。) 星を4つにしたのは、モデルがアングロサクソン系の白人に偏っているからで、作品そのものの出来に不満があるわけではありません。

To anyone who just likes looking at beautiful pictures of beautiful women..Just a few lines of text on the first couple of pages of the book, Then just page after page of perfect images...

Alvarado, per chi lo conosce, è probabilmente uno dei migliori fotografi del genere. per chi non lo conosce, questo volume è un'ottima opportunità per iniziare. Le sue foto sono sempre eleganti e perfettamente bilanciate tra la classicità della pin up e la modernità degli abiti (opzionali) o degli innumerevoli tatuaggi di cui questo libro è un bel campionario!il libro è ben fatto, solo un paio di foto sono su due pagine e la rilegatura le rovina. ma per il resto, ottima carta e stampa.è in inglese, ma c'è un'unica pagina di testo (del tutto trascurabile) quindi nessuna barriera linguistica.aspettiamo un secondo volume!

Very imaginative images that showcase his models tastefully and with great skill. Both of his first two books are excellent, and have me looking forward to his next offering. The quality of the books themselves matches the quality of the material they contain. Highly recommended.
