My Favorite Vege Meat
I am thrilled to have found these on Amazon as they are not available to purchase anywhere near my home. I lived in Loma Linda for many years and these were my family's favorite vegetarian mean product. My dad and later my son-in-law were the masters at cooking them. While expensive to have them shipped, it's worth it when I'm craving a taste of home.

Delicious!!!
These are pretty good when breaded using egg, salt & pepper and panko breadcrumb, then fry in olive oil or avocado oil. Good with ketchup on the side or your favorite dip.

Plant based
Been eating these for years. Cannot be eaten right out of the can. You need to egg and coat in bread crumbs, then fry it and eat it with tartar sauce. Another way is to fry it as mentioned before then pour teriyaki sauce over it and add onions fried in butter. Can also add string beans and sliced russets or anything else you choose. It needs to be well-seasoned and cooked before eating. Good protein substitute instead of meat.

Just make 'm yourself - at least then, you'll know what you're getting.
What I ordered, per ounce, at a much higher price, was a lot more than what I actually received in my order, per ounce, and the info on the page was changed and the price was drastically reduced by the time my order arrived. I really don't appreciate the fact that Loma Linda didn't offer to refund me the difference, themselves, on a $/oz difference. Instead, Amazon had to step in and was kind enough to refund me for the entire order. The Scallops themselves are ok-ish for flavor and texture. I think the color is boring, the shape is weird (it's just twisted, folded, or shredded-edged rectangles). Also, for laughs, I tasted a single real scallop once - these are nothing like the real thing, so really, I'm not sure why they're called "Scallops." They rely on salt for whatever "flavor" you get out of them (without adding your own flavors from various recipes, that is).I truly don't think the Scallops are worth what's being charged for them, especially since you can just make something similar (and, I think, tastier) yourself, for a lot less money. It's not hard: just look at the ingredient list on their cans and then make up your own recipe from dry protein bulk food items and various ethnic sauces/flavorings/liquid smokes, available in grocery stores. I made up my own recipe (it's nicer than standard gluten patties, and actually, I like it better than these Scallops anyway). In the meantime, Loma Linda needs to cut their prices down by 75% (year-round) and they need to not pull bait-'n-switches on customers. Most of their business comes from Seventh-day Adventists who are usually already dirt-poor before footing for veggie-meats, and they need to recognize that and lower their prices significantly. I've heard they aren't actually a SDA company. I wouldn't know if they subscribe to any religion, and I don't need to know that either, but I can say this much: there won't be any unfettered Capitalism in Heaven. I have to wonder how happy they'd really be there, since they couldn't financially take advantage of anyone!
