African Crotch Mahogany wood veneer 18" x 49" with no backing (raw veneer). Price is for ONE piece. If you want to see what this product generally looks like when wet (finished) and multiple pieces are laid out and matched, see our store (link below: type "Crotch Mahogany" in search box). Product is not as orange as some pictures show. Some notes about raw veneers in burl/crotches form: 1) Raw veneer typically has some type of cracking, end splitting, small holes or voids as it is a fragile product. Most cracking or end splitting will minimize when laminated to whatever surface you are using but may need some wood filler. Holes or voids are usually filled with wood filler also or a patch (from other area of same piece) can be put in the hole or void. 2) Pricing is per piece, not for the entire bundle. 3) Burls/crotches from the same bundle are often used to lay out side by side and end over end to make larger pieces. They will match up reasonably well after being trimmed to square or rectangular forms and this is what is done to make bigger pieces from the piece you are viewing. 4) You may see band ties or strings or labels or chalk writing, which all would be removed prior to shipping. About pictures: Most pictures have been temporarily wet on the lower portion of the veneer to show what the grain may look like when finish is added. Thickness: (will not always be exactly correct, but relatively close) Paper-backed veneers = 1/40" Wood-backed veneers = 1/25" Raw plain veneer with no backing = 1/32"-1/42" How to cut: generally cut with a razor/box knife or similar tools and some type of straight edge is typically used. How to apply: Paper-backed and wood-backed veneers are generally applied with contact cement. Raw plain veneer is applied with white or yellow wood glue and must have pressure applied while drying. How to finish: most any conventional finishing products can be used with veneer that is applied correctly.
