WDSE Enterprise 2 TB 3.5-inch SATA Internal Hard Drive

Superb !I have 4 in my Ready NAS 316 and two as spares ready to go in when I need the extra space. They run a little hotter than my 2Tb Samsung's in my old NAS NV+ but have been quiet and reliable. Thoroughly recommended for a NAS and worth the slight extra over a PC style drive.

I've got 7 WD SE 2.0TB drives running in a RAID 5 array using an old LSI megaRAID 8888elp via an intel expander. Running openSUSE 13.1 and performance has been excellent at 450-600mb/s benchmarked, more than sufficient to saturate gigabit lan. Hopefully the lower URE will help when a rebuild is eventually required.

Fantastic drive - replaces failed RAID drive in NAS WD-Sentinel-dx4000

this is a sturdy little HDD, from a good quality brand name. I can barely hear the drive, and when I can the action is very smooth. No warmer than most drives, Not a single problem with this drive. Now the packaging, Amazon have done it again!. They never cease to amaze me with packaging ideas, Large box with a wedge shaped card inside, with the drive firmly fixed on that with cling film.

Arrived 1-day late sent to wrong Depot by DPD.Of the Three drives ordered1/ One is fatally defective (Too many reallocated events SMART-196, retired block count SMART-5 value too high).2/ The second just described at Abnormal by the QNAP NAS3/ The third disk is OK - But don't want it as part of this defective batch.Have not attempted a FULL test of the disks.Initial attempt to make into a RAID array on QNAP crashed the NAS requiring a re-boot.Spent too long on this problem - Amazon accepting return & refund.Have 5-other disks of the same type - No problems (Query bad batch of these)Will buy three more from elsewhere to avoid the bad lot.So sad, there generally great drives with a 5-Year warranty - Just got to survive the 1st day I guess :-(

Bought 5 of these for my synology 1815+. I was not very comfortable with the wd red reviews and the performance for the 4tb version. I have used the 3tb Reds for my previous nas and they worked very well.Overall, the SE drives arrived well packed and in their individual boxes. There was plenty of packaging to minimize damage whilst shipping to France. The drives installed on the 1815+ easily. Slightly more noisy than the 3tb Red drives, but not distracting in the living room. They are now set up in SHR and working well and hibernate when not needed. Happy and thinking of getting some more.

I got this drive to act as my Time Machine drive. I thought spending a bit more and getting 4 TB was probably a good idea - so I can not have to worry about my back up disk for a good few years. The warranty adds to that piece of mind, so I'm happy I got this drive.I got it with the Icy Box IB-318StU3-B Premium Aluminium Case for 3.5 inch SATA HDD with USB 3.0 Interface and it's worked well so far.

I now have 6 of these (along side 6 Samsung 'old' drives) in my Synology DS2413+ NAS and they are brilliant.The Samsung drives were fantastic as well, but only 2TB. These WD 4TB drives are worth every penny. When I can afford to, I'll purchase another 6.

Western Digital WD4000F9YZ interne Festplatte 4TBZunächst einmal zu dem nativen Produkt von Western Digital. Habe diese vor ca. 4 Jahren erworben. Vorausgesetzt es gelingt ihnen A-Ware zu beziehen haben Sie praktisch keinen (!) Ausschuss direkt nach der Lieferung. Das gilt für alle WD Festplatten, die ich bisher gekauft habe. Die Festplatten von WD und insbesondere die Datacente SE Edition (Die leider nicht mehr hergestellt werden) haben eine lange Lebensdauer, sehr gute Qualität und fallen auch im Dauerbetrieb kaum aus. Hatte hier 24 Festplatten in einem Server. Nun ist eine Festplatte nach 4,5 Jahren ausgefallen.Wenn Sie direkt nach der Lieferung signifikanten Ausschuss haben handelt es sich mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit um B-Ware, die meist entsprechend Preiswert angeboten wird. Hier bei Amazon hat der Austausch gegen neue immer gut geklappt. Bitte achten Sie darauf ob die Festplatten brummen, vibrieren oder andere Geräusche z.B. durch Unwucht machen. Auch diese sind defekt, selbst wenn sie zunächst funktionieren. Die WD Platten (A-Ware) laufen völlig geräuschlos und ohne Vibrationen. Lediglich Kopfstellgeräusche sind im Betrieb deutlich zu hören.Leider ist es mir nicht gelungen eine neue Festplatte gleichen Typs jetzt nachzukaufen, weil diese nicht mehr hergestellt werden und anscheinend auch kein Reseller über Restbestände verfügt. Es wurden leider bei 2 Versuchen neue Festplatten zu bezihen immer gebrauchte Exemplare verkauft. Wiederaufbereitet. Die Rücksendung hat geklappt.Doch nun zurück zum Produkt. Da die Festplatte erst 4,5 Jahre auf dem Buckel hatte ist sie noch bei WD RMA fähig. Nach Eingabe der Seriennummer bekam ich ein RMA Etiket und habe die Festplatte zurückgeschickt. WD tausch in solchen Fällen in aller Regel nicht gegen Neugeräte, sondern gegen sogenannte Referbisched Festplatten aus. Also Gebrauchte, wiederaufgearbeitet. Das machen viele Hersteller so, z.B. auch Apple mit dem iPhones. Gerade deshalb habe ich versucht einen neue Festplatte zu kaufen, was leider nicht geklappt hat.Habe nun Kostenfrei so eine Refurbischte bekommen, die immerhin erst mal gut läuft. Der Service und der RMA Prozess bei Western Digital funktioniert gut, unbürokratisch und ist vorbildlich zu nennen. Sie stehen auch zu der ausgelobten 5 Jahresgarantie und verdienen damit Lob.Bitte seien Sie vorsichtig, wenn Sie versuchen diese Geräte neu zu kaufen. Es gibt wohl keine neuen Platten dieses Typs mehr im Markt und es werden eben genau diese Refurbischten Platten versendet. (Heissen bei WD Recertified, ist auf dem Label aufgedruckt, gemeint ist das Gleiche) Natürlich haben diese Platten KEINE fünf Jahresgarantie. WD gibt den Platten 2 Jahre. Die Rückgabe an den Reseller hat in meimen Fall 2 mal gut geklappt. Es ist nur Ärgerlich das es versucht wird. Finde es recht frech die neuen Festplatten zu bewerben, obwohl es diese nicht mehr gibt und ohne weitere Kommunitkation einfach die gebrauchte Ware zu versenden.

Kauf über Warehouse Deals. Als ich die alte Platte auf die neue klonen wollte, gab es mit verschiedenen Methoden und Tools nur Fehlermeldungen. Das Analyseprogramm des Herstellers brach ab "zu viele fehlerhafte Sektoren". Lt. Amazon-Ansage wäre es eine geprüfte Platte gewesen. Sichtprüfung? Äußerlich sah die Platte ja ok aus ...Egal, da die Platte noch Herstellergarantie hat, mache ich die Abwicklung direkt bei WD. Kostet mich zwar Porto und dürfte länger dauern, da habe ich aber irgendwie mehr Vertrauen.
