Hipa Pack-of-6 MS170 Air Filter for STHIL MS 170 MS180 017 018 Chainsaw Parts

After just a 1/2hr of work, I stopped to see how it was doing and boy was I in for a surprise. It had folded in on the sides allowing god only knows what into the engine. It also didn’t look like it had even filtered anything. The OEM filter has some stiffness to it allowing it to be held in place while this one looks like a really thin sponge. Also, this one is much more porous the OEM so don’t think it did a good job keeping sawdust from getting into the motor. Since I’ve already used one, can’t return them. At least they’re cheap. Had to visit the local Stihl dealer to get an OEM filter.

I am leery of non-OEM parts. Viewing the other reviews, I see that many people had problems with fit and quality. This set of six filters fit my MS 180. It is an older Stihl, which I purchased new in 2008, if that helps at all. I usually buy from an OEM dealer, but they did not have my parts in stock, so I took a chance and got lucky with these filters. Quality is not great, so I probably wouldn't buy again, but they worked fine in a pinch until I could get the real deal.

I bought these and some fuel filters after buying a tuneup kit from the hardware store. (Kit included 1 air filter, 1 fuel filter, and 1 spark plug.)The spark plug was fine, but both of my filters were clogged and the saw wouldn't idle after it warmed up.After replacing the filters, the saw ran like new.Don't waste your money on a tuneupkit with parts you may not need.These are almost oem thickness and filter out the dust great.

These filters were purchased to replace an OEM filter on a STIHL 180c saw. The filters arrived in the packaging as shown. Two of the six were creased and only a bit deformed. They are less dense than the OEM filter and not as thick or stiff. They fit the filter box well. These appear decent for a quick fix and may even do an adequate job if replaced often. I have not run them in the saw to determine how they will hold up. I ordered others from overseas which appeared closer to OEM. These will suffice in the meantime. I am comfortable with operating these filters for a short time. Only time will tell.

Purchased these for my Stihl MS180, which I use quite a bit for smaller jobs. I thought I'd save some money, but these filters are NOT as good as genuine Stihl air filters. These are thinner and will let small particles through...had to replace my carb, spark plug and of course air filter..
