Excellent device for emulation.
This is a slightly edited version reposted over from my blog at: [...]Review:There are two things, right on the box, which are important.First? USB. Your favorite general-use standard cable. No need for boxy adaptors or messy custom wiring.Second? Plug and play! Your favorite kind of device! No searching for drivers, no installation of drivers, no maintenance of drivers. In the box are 2 things -- a plastic frame that holds the controller, and the controller itself. No messy un-boxing, no extra papers, none of that. Everything except the controller is toss-able and forgettable. The controller is lighter than I remember SNES controllers being (though I think the size is the same). The plastic is smoother. It feels pretty solid. I think I could snap this thing in half between the SELECT and START buttons if I really wanted to -- but I'm certainly not going to do it accidentally. The D-Pad, and each and every button is much higher than the SNES was, if I recall correctly. Also, the X & Y buttons on the original controllers had a depressed dome -- by which I mean, the tops curved down --, and the A & B buttons curved the other way. Again, if I recall correctly. The four buttons on the Retrolink controller are all flat.It has no turbo functions or buttons. In actual use, with SNES9X over the course of the day, I found that the controller performs solidly, if not perfectly. The START button in particular is slightly finicky. The response time, however, is great.I noticed no issues during gameplay of several SNES classics. All together, very functional controller. Could benefit from heavier construction and mimicking original button design details like height and top curvatures a little better.I'll give it 9 stars out of 10.[...]Buy it.

Great Buy
I couldn't believe how cheap this controller was. its perfect for emulation, works with zsnes and snes9x, as well as pretty much anything else you want. Fits well in the hand and is easy to get used to. When i received it the buttons were a little tight, but i worked them in and now they're fine. Controls responsive and buttons are stable, not too hard to press/hold. I recommend this controller for anyone wanting to feel a little nostalgic playing computer games. THIS CONTROLLER IS LIGHT, it almost feels like nothings in my hand. The only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 star is how little it weighs. I would be careful not to through it around. GREAT CONTROLLER.

Great product
Despite what some people were saying, this controller is just fine. I have disassembled the controller to see if I could figure out where the gripes were coming from, yet I am unable to find any problems. The controller itself feels extremely light, but very well made. The casing and cord are of acceptable quality.I have read some people complaining about squishy buttons and would like to say that after comparing this to a real SNES controller, the SNES controller has softer buttons than this. I believe the gripes come from the soft shoulder buttons, but the buttons work fine. Buttons response is just fine for me after beating Donkey Kong Country. The device is recognized by Windows as a game controller, no drivers were needed and after defining my buttons in an emulator, I was ready to play. This controller also works fine with windows games, and I have been pleased with the hardware. This is really a nice product for the new price, I am pleased.

Decent controller with some flaws
To start off, the controller does what it is expected to do. I just plugged it in, and it automatically installed on Windows 7. The buttons are slightly mushy and the R and L buttons are a little hard to press but I can live with that. I was able to play games like Street Fighter 2 fairly well with only a few mishaps that could clearly be blamed on the controller. The d-pad is a little hard of plastic though so your fingers will hurt after playing for a long time. When I purchased this controller it was advertised with an 8 foot cord. Upon opening the package, my controller box said a 6 foot cord. After taking the controller and measuring I now only have a little more than 3 feet of cord. This is completely unacceptable since I bought it to be able to play sitting far away from my PC and not directly at it. I sent the company a message about it and they offered to completely refund my purchase and I wouldn't have to pay shipping to return it. So that is at least a decent offer. I decided to just keep and and get a USB extension cord.Overall it does exactly what you expect. Plastic is a little hard and some buttons are mushy while some are harder to press. Installing is a breeze and it works great with znes.
