Vardis Fisher's Boise

Boise in the 1930's
I grew up in Boise and have lived elsewhere since I was 21, though I've occasionally gone back to Boise to visit. It's enlightening to read Vardis Fisher's view of Boise in the 1930's when the population was about 30,000. I arrived in Boise in 1954 from Ohio and hardly recognize Boise now except for The Depot and Table Rock. His written work wasn't accepted by the WPA project because of his phrasing, eg. "the city council are a bunch of reactionaries." But that's exactly what makes it interesting to read. If you know anything about Boise, you'll love reading it.
