Q: How many colors can be selected simultaneously? E.g can I do green AND orange, or green AND red?

That's the one thing I didn't like about these lights. You can't pick your own color combinations. (unless I've missed something in the instructions). I wanted to use red and green or red/green/white for Christmas, for example, and the closest I could get was having blue in the mix too, because that was the pre-programmed option. I think there are four or five colors together at a time, but I have not found a way to pick which colors.

Q: Wire broke at last led where it goes from the bundle to the two wires. how can i splice it to keep it viable?

Don't know. Normal slice and seal should work.

Q: Does this have an off switch or do you have to unplug to turn it off?

It has an on off switch that is lite up on the end where you plug it in. These are actually timed. If you turned them on at 6pm at night and they stay on for several hours before turning off by themself. They will automatically turn back on the following night at the same time on the same setting ( constant light, flashing, slow flicker etc) But you can always turn it off manually by pressing the button a few times. Hope this helps.
