The Triune God (New Studies in Dogmatics)

Great, readable introduction to Trinitarian theology. Having read Allen’s *Sanctification* for the series, I was skeptical (I won’t address the problems with Allen’s here). The doctrine of the Holy Trinity is, rightly, one that has been thought about and refined over the many centuries of our faith, and it seems that much of the confusion and fear surrounding it is due to a general lack of familiarity with the concepts and terms. Sanders delivers a clear and helpful introduction to the topic. I say “introduction” not because I would necessarily give this to someone who was new to the doctrine, but someone who was beginning a deeper study of some particular aspect of the conversation surrounding it. This book would be good in a seminary theology course.

I loved this book. It is a great theological resource on the Trinity. I've read and enjoyed a lot of Trinitarian theology in the past, but I found in here some helpful counter-correctives from the deeper historic, classical tradition to some more recent popular Trinitarian themes. Heads-up: it's academic, and intended for those already familiar with Trinitarian theology rather than an introduction. But if you're interested in diving deeper on the Trinity at a rich theological level, this is a great and highly recommended resource.

I'd recommend diving into Letham's "The Holy Trinity" before tackling this book. If you're not familiar with trinitarian theology, this book will feel like walking into the middle of an argument you have no context for. But it's great material.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and a great companion to Sanders’ earlier works.

Dr. Sanders provides an excellent introductory text on Trinitarian Theology. The prose is at times arduous, but the content is a rare find. I highly recommend this work.

The trinity is of course one of the most difficult doctrines to acquire some significant grasp of and I am committed to strive to achieve a competent understanding of it so that my understanding is more than merely superficial/ intellectual assent. HELP
