Excellently detailed, clear sound, amazing for the price and size
I use these as near-field monitors for music production, including some mixing and occasional mastering. The price is a real bargain, considering the performance. They throw a wide and consistent image, with perceptible 3D when the sound source permits. The amount of detail is remarkable. There is some slight plasticky coloration, but much less than I'd expect at this size and price. The low-frequency extension is limited, again due to their size, but a small subwoofer would address this. They are not fatiguing for long-term listening, and I find them of excellent quality overall, and a real pleasure to use.

Dead silent with a single-driver-speaker-like sound
My pair are dead silent when not playing music. I was hesitant before I finally decided to buy them. I chose them as my computer speakers for the convenience of the Monitor Link connectivity, the small size and good look, and the recommendations I read from audiostream.com. They didn't disappoint me. I am very satisfied with their headphone-like sound (as if they each have only a single driver, instead of two). I found myself listening to them more often than my Valhalla/HD650 combination for convenience and an even less fatiguing experience.

Accurate monitoring
I needed a small monitor set to power my computer since I use it for music training. Small enough to sit over my station but loud enough for music practice. Well built and musically accurate

Works good, when it works!
Ordered two of these from GearTree, they worked fine for about a week and then the right one stopped turning on.PROS:Good sound. These speakers got as loud as I wanted them to and sounded very nice in the process. Not too huge, fits on my desk just fine.CONS:One of them stopped working after having had them for a week.Unfortunately, because of the fact that I have recycled the original packaging, the seller will not return or refund the item. Now I'm stuck paying to ship this back to the manufacturer's third party maintenance company to hopefully be shipped a replacement... Consider the manufacturer's warranty process and a seller's return/refund process when purchasing expensive speakers such as these. And also never recycle anything either, because we all have space to hoard boxes and styrofoam packaging somewhere, right?I'm really bummed that I'll have to wait weeks to get one of these returned; after which hopefully it won't stop working again. If I get the replacement and it works consistently I will definitely update this review!UPDATE: I got the replacement after several weeks. Woopee. Now, the other speaker has stopped working after a few months of light use. These speakers were a HUUGE waste of money. I am not buying a Tannoy product again, nor am I ever planning to purchase through the amazon seller who sold this to me. Terrible customer service and overall a bad experience.1/5

The best small monitor I've heard. Trust in Tannoy!
I bought these monitors to replace my M-Audio BX5a's. I was never satisfied with the accuracy of the M-Audio's (mixes would sound totally different when I'd play them elsewhere) and the Tannoy's were a huge improvement. The sound is truly flat - now, if you're mixing/recording music that is exactly what you want. When I mix something on these speakers, it sounds the same wherever I play them. Really impressed given their size.

Not Worthy of the Tannoy Brand
I hardly leave a review but always read reviews from other people, having said that, I felt like I needed to write a review since this item has so many good reviews.I have a background in audio engineering, and lots of experience with different studio monitors from Yamaha's NS10, JBL, Adam Audio, and KRK to M-Audio and other less expensive-sounding monitors.I have always considered Tannoy to be a very high-quality speaker but this particular model is not a good-sounding monitor speaker.Let's start with the good, the build quality and looks of the product are very good, almost excellent. I was really excited to get them because of the size, brand, looks, and my high expectations of having a great-sounding monitor. The bad: The sound was a huge letdown for me. The highs and mids are just not there, I tried adjusting the high boost with no satisfying results. I understand that the reveal 402 are a very small monitor but other brands areThese monitors sound like very cheap car stereo speakers. I really wanted them to work, I truly did.

It packs a great punch for low end bass
For such a small speaker in size... It packs a great punch for low end bass. No, it cannot be compared to a larger diameter sub speaker, but for my DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) desk, this speaker is perfect! I love the clarity this speaker gives me while listening as well as writing music.
