Lettow-Vorbeck is a game covering the East African campaign of 1914-18. One player controls the Allied units and tries to clear German East Africa. The other player controls the Germans and tries to prevent it, or failing that, to grab a source of supply in one of the surrounding Allied colonies. The Germans historically eked out a win by grabbing a supply source in the British colony of Northern Rhodesia even though they had been chased out of their home colony. Lettow-Vorbeck uses the Hand of Destiny series rules. Each player has a unique set of campaign cards generating movement, combat bonuses, historical events, and reinforcements. Playing the right card at the right time lets one side concentrate the forces needed to win that great victory against all odds, or perhaps go down to inglorious defeat. Combat is resolved using a quasi-tactical procedure in which units take turns firing at one another. Paul von Lettow Vorbek: Greatest leader of WWI
Decision Games mini series battalion level WWI action in East Africa! Quick and easy to learn game using point to point movement, dice rolls, and action cards. Great for solitaire games too. Lettow Vorbeck was rhe greatest leader of the war. He held up and engaged in guerilla style combat overwhelming British, Portuguese, Belgian, and S. African forces throughout the war AND only surrendered after the Armistice was signed!! This small scale game is fun and a glimpse into the marvel of an outstanding figure in history.

Like the rest of the Hand of Destiny system
If you like this system you’ll like this game. It is simply another similar installment. Much fewer rules ambiguities than with its sister games, Khyber Rifles or Custers Last Stand. An extra half-star for an obscure topic.Read the common biography of von Lettie-Vorbeck, it’s really good.

World War One's forgotten chapters.
Nice small simulation, with easy to learn rules, but enough historical accuracy to make for a enjoyable gaming experience.
