Oh Wattana, what a wonderful creature you are. Your heartbreaking story made me so sad, but Herzfeld’s ability to weave it into so many other stories and powerful ideas.... well let’s just say I’m overwhelmed again. Any smart artistic animal lover will treasure this book.

This book is fascinating in that it concentrates on captivated orang-utans rather than those in the wild. It is also of personal interesdt to me as the orang-utan Wattana is the mother of the orang I adopted at Monkey World in Dorset for 8 years before she was transferred to Rio Safari park in Spain. Lingga is featured in the book and learning of her family is of great interest. It is a must for all lovers of Orangs.
