A very sturdy and very strong set of loppers
This is the best pair of loppers I have ever owned. They are well built with the entire cutting mechanism being made of thick steel. They are heavy in the hand but the angle of the handles make them comfortable to use. The ratcheting mechanism is cool but honestly, it is almost never necessary for me because the sharp, strong blade makes small work of 1.5" diameter branches with a single slice. The loppers are actually longer than I thought they would be when I ordered them which can sometimes make them hard to get into tight spaces in denser brush but that is merely an observation, not a complaint.I have trimmed quite a few trees with them and they have no problem slicing through golf ball diameter branches. As long as they last, which I believe they will, I am 100% satisfied with the purchase.

Tree Branches Beware
I researched a few different sites to find a replacement for my old fiberglass handle tree lopper. I bent the handles on that one - just didn't know my own strength? Anyways, I really wanted a ratchet system to add leverage during the difficult cutting, and settled on this model with an Amazon purchase. Again, Amazon comes through with an OK price, but totally free shipping.I have put this tool to the test and have been very pleased with it's performance. As with all ratchet tools you must find out the right movement to engage the ratchet for it's full potential. Once you find this sweet spot you will be amazed at what cutting feats you can tackle. The Fiskar blade is very sharp (hope it stays that way) and the results are remarkable.I recently added to my Fiskar collection with a hand pruner I bought at the local HD - model P94 with titanium blades. Wow. So easy to cut with super sharp blade action and many other features.I totally recommend Fiskar tools, but would like to caution not to buy the base models only. The advanced garden tools such as this ratchet cutter and the titanium hand pruner are well worth the extra cost in easier functionality and superior cutting. No, I don't work for Fiskar. I work for WD and we only make hard disk drives - best in the world!

It's Easy and Quick
A ratchet drive lopper is the easiest and quickest way to cut limbs etc. up to over 1" in diameter. I've had one for over 25 years that finally failed. Had to have another with the rachet drive and the Fiskars is the best that I found from my internet search. I would have rated it 5 stars if it had been my first ratchet lopper and I had just experienced the benefit if the ratchet feature for the first time. I didn't give it the final star as I do have reservations regarding the anvil cutting method as opposed to the scissors type if my previous lopper. I am a big guy and tend to close the handles with a lot of effort despite the ratchet feature. So I do have a concern that the anvil will dull the blade. Only time will tell. The unit appears to be extremely well designed and strongly built so hopefully my concern will be for naught.

!!BEST BRUSH TOOL IN THE WORLD!!
I LOVE IT!!!I am 62 yr old, 5'5" female with a bad back injury, bad wrist injury too, and easy even for me to use, btw...I have been using a chopping axe to get rid of scrub oak "bushes", and manzanita and madrone branches, for fire safety, which was ok but took forever to get the springy branches chopped off. Then there were lots of small branches to pick up for burn pile. However, yesterday i tested out my Fiskars Ratchet Drive Loper and it was soooo easy, like cutting butter! I couldn't stop cutting bushes it was so much fun. Big branches came off so easily! I even cut easily through 1-2? In dia pine trees!!!! I had a gigiantic pile of cut brush which was made up of bigger easier to get rid of branches. I put all the brush on a 10x10 tarp and bungied it together into a giant ball...then with leverage methods got it up on my wheelbarrow, and managed to take it about 80 yards away till it fell off. Now i need to rig up a way to get that pile about 1 acre away. Wish i had a man around! The Loper is so easy to use. I did not even read the instructions. Now that i have, i can't wait to get out today and clear a bunch more!! I want to get another one in case they quit making them. Plus it is beautiful to look at, so well made!

Cutting blade broke; Warranty claim submitted, and good service received.
Theses loppers worked well on my first use, cutting back some lilac bushes. When I moved on to cutting up some oak tree trimmings, on a cold November day, the cutting blade broke. I have submitted a claim against the lifetime warranty, even though it's still within my return period at Amazon. I will cut Fiskars some slack if they will send me a replacement cutting blade and perhaps a spare. It seems simple enough to replace the blade. I will update the review in the future.UPDATE: I should have updated this review sooner. I received the replacement cutting blade and a spare. It was easy to replace and the loppers got me through several jobs. This is a good product and I recommend it heartily. Their customer service is excellent.
