Well-made, great tool - but beware...
This works great at driving the rod and is constructed well, likely to last a long time, however:If you are driving a 5/8 rod, do NOT get the 5/8 driver - get the 3/4. My 5/8 fit way too snugly around my 5/8 ground rod— so much so I foresaw the issue, so I even tried to smooth some of the galvanization build up to let it slip on more freely. But I didn’t solve the problem, so sure enough, it completely froze on the rod after effectively driving it down.I had to cut he top 5” off the rod to get the rod/tool fused section up. After an hour wrestling in the workshop with bench vises, acetylene torches, etc, I still couldn’t get the rod out...boy was it in there! So save yourself the pain and get the next size up. The extra slop won’t hurt anything except maybe allow a bit of mushrooming, which isn’t hard to trim down if needed to slip on your wire clamp.Again, seems like a solid tool, but you need to plan for the above.

Worked for my needs.
I bought this with a goal to modify into an attachment to drive garden spikes. So I had cut off most of the hollow section and machined in a concave indent on a lathe. So it worked out just fine for my needs. However, don't know if it will affect the functionality of the tool as it is intended to be used, but the hole for the rod was drilled completely off center as can be seen in the second photo. It is probably not important, but it does demonstrate a shoddy approach to manufacturing and quality control.

Not for 5/8" ground rods!
This does not fit 5/8"ground rod. Well technically it fits on, just can't take it back off. Seems built decent except for the fit issues. Will return!!Save yourself some time. Pass on this.

Held up well even through the idea didn't work in clay soil
Held up well even through the idea didn't work in clay soil. The SDS didn't have much luck in clay soil, but this item did handle the impact.
