Warhawk: The Horus Heresy: Siege of Terra, Book 6

This Book Bummed me Out. 5 Stars.
No spoilers from me here, gang, but this book is exactly what I want from a Siege of Terra entry. Easily one of my favorites in all of the Horus Heresy, with some incredible character moments and a final confrontation that is just intensely satisfying to the core.

One of the better Siege of Terra novels
Chris Wraight is one of the better writers in Black Library's stable. His two Watchers of the Throne books, The Emperor's Legion and The Regent's Shadow, are top shelf. Here he delivers a fast-paced work that pits the White Scars and their primarch, Jaghatai Khan, against Motarion and his Nurgle-worshipping Death Guard legion in a desperate contest to take control of the Lions Gate spaceport. Like all of the Horus Heresy novels the Siege of Terra books have been of varying quality, but this one is in my opinion a winner and a massive improvement over the sprawling, somewhat aimless Mortis which preceded it. In Warhawk the main story is focused and even the side story which involves Sigismund is interesting. I look forward to reading the last three books (2 novels and 1 novella) of the Siege and to Wraight's next work, whatever it is.

The Khagan. The Emperor's Champion. The Lord of Death.
If you are a fan of the White Scars. This is the novel for you. It is heavily involved with the White Scars. It shows their hope, their rage, their strategy. Also it shows the titanic duel of the two Primarchs, Jaghatai and Mortarion. There is a decent bit of pov from Sigismund, the Emperor's Champion. He is unleashed, his will made manifest. Any fan of Sigismund I encourage to read this novel. And finally, the Death Guard. This novel's other major pov. You see the decisions Mortarion made and how he dealt and will deal with them. You see the frustrating First Captain, Typhus widdle down, annoyed by his Primarchs lack of aggressive strategy in this major battle. You also see Mortarion's equerry, Caipha, have a deep communication with a daemon named the Remnant. Will he ignore him? Or adore him?Overall I have read every Siege of Terra novel and novella. This by far has been my favorite of the series. Chris Wraight once again proves he is the Master of the White Scars literature and their journey through the galaxy and this final battle. Wraight also does a tremendous job of keeping both sides even, the White Scars and Death Guard, of course there must be victor, no one likes a tie but Wraight does a great job of keeping both sides engaging and enjoyable.

Excellent Send off for the White Scars
The white scars are well represented in their final horus heresy book. I only wish the book didn't stray to the viewpoints of characters who had nothing to do with the scars but always have an Obligatory place in the series.

Best book of the series so far !
For me, easily the best book of the series. The breakaways from scene to scene and character to character held my attention the whole time. The battles between the white scars and death guard are triumphant ! Chris W is my favorite 40k author and he really delivers with this book.

Great cheap paperback
I love the Siege of Terra series. I was able to pre-order this paperback for $10. These books go out of print quick and can get really expensive, so I was happy to get it so inexpensive.

Snabb leverans
Tyvärr skickas alla böcker i enbart vikt kartong vilket gör att paketet blir utsatt för väder och vind och dessutom känslig för stötar.Men Amazon gav mig rabatt så det är okej ändå

Epic
We feel the Imperium dying. And being born again. A brutal installation of the Siege of Terra, equally epic and sad. Loved it.

A breath of fresh air and awesome
This Siege of Terra entry by Chris Wraight is a breath of fresh air after the mess that was "Mortis". The White Scars finally get their chance to shine which they have lacked in previous entries. Once again, Wraight handles this legion very well just like he did back in "Scars" and "Path of Heaven". Aside from the Khagan and his ordu going head to head with the Death Guard, the other arc I enjoyed was Sigismund's and how he is morphing into the Black Templar we all know he will become. The two drawbacks of this novel are how it continues to drag out the perpetual storyline and Loken chasing Keeler. If the perpetual arc does not lead to a good payoff, it will have been a waste of pages and time.Spolier below:Freaking Erebus is back and what he does in this entry is downright despicable just as we have come to expect out of this character.
