Good buy
Sick of unreliable and environmentally unsound pod machine. Easy to use though the filter arm a bit stiff at first. Using up my dulce gusto pods to avoid waste by cannibalising pods and is making a superior coffee than the pod machine from same coffee. I don’t use milk frother so can’t review this as I only drink espresso or Americano. The only downside is it’s hard to get a normal cup under for larger coffee a feature I think common with these machines that aside this basic machine is good value and makes a lovely coffee. Not bean to cup but a cheap grinder and Bobs your uncle ! The unit is compact for small kitchens, easy to clean and in my opinion a winner!

Brilliant Budget machine
I’ve been using this espresso machine for about a month, and I must say, it’s quite impressive for a budget option. It efficiently serves the purpose of making great-tasting coffee, which is commendable for its price range. However, there are a few aspects I believe potential buyers should be aware of.Firstly, the steam wand presents a bit of a challenge. Its small size makes it difficult to steam milk to that perfect barista-quality froth. This might be a drawback for those who are keen on their lattes and cappuccinos. When it comes to coffee grounds, this machine seems to favor pre-ground coffee. Despite this, I’ve experimented with various beans and found that using fresh grounds, particularly with a slightly coarser grind, can still yield good results. It’s worth noting that darker roasts work better in this regard, but remember, the optimal grind size can vary depending on the coffee, so experimentation is key.Another point to consider is the 51mm portafilter, which is on the smaller end compared to other machines. This limitation means that achieving a proper double espresso can be challenging, with the machine best suited for brewing one-and-a-half sized espressos.Despite these minor issues, the machine has several strengths. The build quality is solid for a product in this price bracket—the plastics are cheap but sturdy. Additionally, the water tank is adequately sized, and I’ve been particularly impressed with the water distribution across the coffee grounds. Proper puck preparation seems to mitigate any channeling issues effectively. In summary, for its price, this espresso machine offers good value. It’s not without its flaws, such as the small steam wand and portafilter, but its performance in making delicious coffee and overall build quality make it a recommendable option for those entering the world of espresso making. My overall rating would be 6/10, reflecting a balanced view of its strengths and areas for improvement.

It's an ok compact machine
So I like this machine but it has its flaws.1) only short coffee cups welcome. It delivers at least 250ml of coffee at a single button press so this means you need a mug to hold the quantity it dispenses unless you stop it during its cycle. Shorter cups are therefore likely to overflow.2) the coffee comes out at a drinkable temperature. If you prefer your coffee above 60c then this one isn't for you.3) sometimes the machine will leave water in the grinds which is only evident once you go to remove them and spill the coffee...But for its price I can't complain. It has quirks but it can make a good cup of coffee quickly and that's what I wanted. If you have a coffee most days of the week this is a good one for you.

Absolute rubbish
I purchased this espresso machine to replace a similar one I had used for over ten years but had finally given up the ghost. The Slater Espresso Pro really should not be on sale to the public as it fails in almost every way. Yes, the water tank holds water, and the portfilter does hold coffee, but that is as far as it goes. The machine rattles and vibrates really badly, meaning I have to hold the espresso glasses under the spout otherwise they vibrate out and the liquid goes in the drip tray. There is always a layer of water left on the top of the coffee grounds so that removing the portfilter puts hot wet grounds everywhere.Anything but the very lightest tamping of the grounds means that the water will not pass through the grounds and actually comes out of the bottom of the machine. The light tamping means that the espresso that does come out, if you are lucky enough to get any, is tepid warm and watery. The final issue is that there is no weight to the unit. Even pushing down on the body of the machine hard is not enough to stop it sliding everywhere when trying to release the portfilter.I cannot understand how Salter thought this was a Pro level machine. To me it seems like it should be marketed as a toy.Now I have to clean it and return it.

Decent, but you get what you pay for
For the price, this is pretty decent... But isn't amazing when compared to other (much more expensive) machines that are available.General feel - the main unit is quite light and plastic, though the accessories all feel pretty sturdy. Great inclusion of a Nespresso pod adapter.Functionality - does what it is supposed to do and produces a reasonable coffee. The buttons are a bit annoying; it's not super-easy to see which one is clicked-on and which is clicked-off and the instructions aren't really helpful.I can kind of guess what the dial is showing me (e.g. hot enough for coffee, hot enough for steam, etc) , but again not really explained anywhere and no obvious way to control it.The steam wand works, but takes a while (a few mins) to get to minimum heat.Usability - it makes a decent cup of coffee, but you'll need to have an idea of how to properly use an espresso machine; don't expect the instructions to help in that regard. So yah, overall a bit cheap-feeling, but good for the price and does what it's supposed to do.

As described, very happy customer 😀
I like the coffee machine! The coffee tastes nice and it's working as described. I tried about 5 different coffee machines, which all of them were good but broke all in 6 months of use. This is the most economic coffee machine I had and so far so good. Many thanks 😊
