See (and hear) what all the fuss is about
Good as the albums are, I think the best of Springsteen and the E Street Band is to be found in the recordings of their live concerts. And this now supplants the "Live 1975/85" set as the ideal introduction. The whole band are at their peak and the set itself is tighter than the 3 hour marathons he was usually performing around this time; 90 minutes fly by. The sound is excellent and the video surprisingly good given the circumstances under which it was filmed (on 16mm!) - it has been carefully restored. The interplay between Springsteen and Clemons is a delight, as well as the way that Springsteen has the audience in the palm of his hand during the penultimate "Quarter to Three" - the video of this performance alone is worth the purchase price! Elsewhere on Amazon you'll find the 1975 Hammersmith Odeon set and the aforementioned 1975/85 compilation, as well as a few bootlegs (anything from the 1978 tour is well worth getting hold of); all of those are fantastic but this is the best of the lot.

I'm just a prisoner... of rock and roll!
New Year's Eve 1979, I was 18 and at home with family & friends (I've never been one for NYE celebrations) A friend of my brother-in-law asked if we could put The Old Grey Whistle Test on tv as they were showing the MUSE concert highlights and he wanted to see Tom Petty. Then it happened, some bloke I'd never heard of sang 'The River' and I was hooked.Holiday over I bought The River album and just wanted more. My local record store (remember those?) ordered me his album back catalogue and 42 years later my adoration hasn't waned. This collection is superb, considering the age, the quality of both sound and vision is excellent. All the energy, passion, drama and humour of a Springsteen concert is here. Stay, with Rosemary Butler, Jackson Browne & Tom Petty is sheer joy. Detroit Medley & Quarter To Three are delivered with expert showmanship. The rest of the tracks are simply perfection (OK, I'm a little biased!) But, for the price, this deserves to be in everyone's collection. His concerts are legendary and each one I've attended leave me both euphoric and drained simultaneously. Just buy this!

One of the best Live Springsteen Albums
With so many official and unofficial Live Springsteen albums being released over the past year or so, obviously capitalising on the demand for vinyl, some of them are less than average with poor sound from lazy mixing and reproduction onto vinyl. Even as a Mad Springsteen fan I would even suggest that some of the releases haven’t captured Bruce’s best performances and the result is some rather bland and boring releases. No Nukes from 1979 does not fall into that catergory. The sound is excellent (probably benefitting from being recorded as a film at the time and therefore more attention to this recording has been made.). Also Bruce sounds fresh and lively as he hadn’t done a concert in a while leading up to this and was busy recording the River at the time. It captures Bruce at his best around this time with a nice selection of his work to date and a few nice covers also. Nice Booklet also and we’ll presented. Highly Recommended !

Decent live recording
From around the time of the river, decent live recording but for me not as good as the Hammersmith odeon recording which is in my humble opinion the best Bruce live recording quality wise and sound wise.Bought the vinyl but actually returned as not as good as my cd version Hammersmith recording

Fantastic Concert Immersive Audio
So its fantastic as old concerts like this usually are, but the video quality is a bit naff considering what they have done with other concerts of this sort of era. The aspect ratio is 4:3 so no widescreen, the audio is where this blu ray shines uncompressed 5.1 so the audio quality is absolutely fantastic. If you are a big Springsteen fan like me you will enjoy the blu ray and to me the cd’s are just a bonus.
