Bought two different brand HDMI to VGA adapters, on the off chance that one was not compatible. Both worked flawlessly. This one, having a male HDMI, sits next to the device sending the signal, and takes a standard VGA cable as an output to the receiving screen/device.Image quality is fine, tested at 1080 and works, but being used daily at 1440x900 resolution.Sound output over 3.5mm jack does work in my use case, but only minimal testing has been done as it's not needed currently.Build quality is fine.I would have no doubts recommending this product. The only thing to consider is where in the setup the adapter is best positioned for you. This one sits near the transmitting device and uses a VGA cable, the other type I purchased plugs directly in to the receiving device, and uses an HDMI cable from the transmitting device.

If buying again would buy a simple vga to hdmi in one cableDoes have screw holes to keep vga attached to connector but time will tell if they will holdPicture quality isn't perfect but its fine for simple monitor, it's still vga after allHave seen the odd flicker but will just leave it in place, will cause no issuesOther from that, for the price, it does the job

Bought this since I needed to setup 2 screens for working at home for the time being and of course my PC didn't have a VGA port. The picture quality was clean and encountered no issues with it after a month of usage. If it breaks its no big deal since it's so cheap to start with.

Needed a solution to set up dual monitors for work as my pc only had 1 VGA output and both monitors have VGA connections. This adapter worked a treat. Simple plug in and you're away. Excellent choice for the price.

Bought two months ago to hook up an old spare monitor to a new rig. Worked for 2 months but today it will not display any output when connected. It appears that the connection within the cable itself has become loose as I can get an picture to output on the monitor temporarily if I bend part of the cable...So on that basis I wouldn't recommend and suggest you buy from elsewhere
