Great product
My dog isn't as fond of this product as I am. I love being able to trim her nails at home.

Great for the price
Our 75 lb black lab has thick, all-black nails that are very hard. He hated having them cut, and we could never see the quick. Grinding his tough nails takes a long time; but we have him lie down, and he relaxes and sometimes sleeps right through it. His nails are in great shape, and the grinder lets me round the edges rather than ending up with sharp edges after cutting.PROS: No more worrying about cutting into the quick, and it is easy to get the angle you want. 2 speeds for fast shortening and then slower finish work. Fairly quiet. After acclimating to the noise, our dog sleeps through the trim. Grinds fairly quickly. The light makes it easy to see what we are doing. We use rechargeable batteries, and they last through a couple trims. Grinding strips last through a couple trims and are easy and inexpensive to replace. The cover over the strips has a hole large enough for fairly large nails, and the cover contains a lot of the nail dust as it grinds off.CONS: Grinding takes longer than clipping. Our dog's hard nails take about 15 minutes per paw. The grinding strips slip up and down the post, and they will stop rotating unless you use a light touch. We just remove the cover to give access to the entire strip as it slips up and down, although that means none of the nail dust is retained inside the cover. Grinding creates a lot of very fine dust. Removing the cover also makes it easier to hold the grinder at the angle you want and where you need it, and you no longer have to try to trim the nail through a hole. You have to remove the cover anyway to replace the grinding strips. The cover cracked a little when removed although not so badly that it can no longer be used. The grinding strips and batteries only last for a couple trims; but the strips are cheap and easy to replace, and we solved the short battery life by using rechargeable batteries. The long hair between the toes can get in the way of the grinder. All in all much easier than clippers and the trimmer is lighter and quieter than a dremel.

Just what we needed for the dog's grinder. Not to mention $7 cheaper than the pet store.

Limited life span for these grinding bands
I bought these thinking I wouldn’t need to use them for a while. Instead, I found out you NEED these if you purchase a Furminator Nail Grinder.I have a beagle and a corgi-beagle mix. My medium-sized dogs prefer a grinder over a nail clipper. I prefer a grinder for safety reasons because each dog has a few dark nails where it’s impossible to see the nail quick (blood supply). The life span of these bands are SHORT. The bands starts to unravel after each dog. I’m lucky if I can do both of my dogs in one band. That can add up when you consider you’re paying about 95 cents a band (at the “add on” price). You can’t get these to work longer as they start to fray and slip once they’re worn. It’s pribably best to have extras on hand. These bands are still far cheaper than having a professional trim your dogs nails and allows you to trim them more often and allow the pet to be more comfortable as well as avoid painful dew claw snags.Overall, i’m satisfied with the job these do. My dogs nails look great; they come out smooth and well-shaped. I just wish they could make these MORE DURABLE and without the fraying or slipping issues. A selection of different grits would also be useful.

It's ok I guess
Works great..... kinda....It has two speeds, on the first speed it's great, low noise, no vibration, animals dont mind it, but it grinds slower.Second is very loud, almost too much vibration to hold for very long and it scares all of our animals and it grinds almost too aggressively. Keeping as a backup and going back to my dremel.

Good, but not heavy duty
The product is the first electric nail file that i have used for my dogs. Most effective if used after clipping the nails. The grinder is not heavy duty. The light is not really effective .

alright working, a lot of fiddling
my dog hates this. It overheats quickly and you have to keep moving it away from the nail. The grinder slips off the tool a lot and nail dusk kicks into the air, so use it with ventilation. It does work, it just takes some time to get used to it for you and your dog
