Great Gear Machines!
These are great gears! They have everything you'd want in a gear system. First of all the construction quality is good, these are solid pieces. In the year and a half that we've had these they are as good today as when we bought them. The solid construction also includes good gear interface, so these things really interlock well. Good interfaces, and solid construction also means they are strong enough to build machines that do actual work. The set includes several base plates which interlock like puzzle pieces. About half the time these are out at our house these bases have been built into boxes. So they are more than just the base, they are interesting in and of themselves. The second set of pieces are the support structures. These are tubes and joints that interlock to make poles. The pieces are a standard size, not varying so your structure is always aligned to standard units. No struggling to get the thing to connect which is at a slightly different height like we've seen in other sets sometimes. Also the supports are sturdy and well attached, so that once built structures stay that way. In addition to the gears, this set also comes with attachments like chains and rubber bands. These can be used to connect groups of gears that are otherwise disconnected. As a bonus in our house the chains are often use to make tank treads. After playing with these for a while I'm pretty sure our boys have a pretty good understanding of gears. The other day I quizzed my son why he had a little gear between the big ones on his tanks. He gave a very teenage like sigh, as if I were an idiot and explained that otherwise the wheels don't turn the same way. So I'm pretty sure that he's got it now.

nicely designed creativity boosting set
We got this set for our 3.7 year old son for Christmas and are very pleased with quality and possibilities this set provides.Overall quality is very good but there are few flaws as mentioned in other reviews:- corner pieces (red) are not fitting as snuggly as straight (yellow) therefore the whole built device is not very stable (quite flimsy actually).- we wish there would be few more "adaptor" pieces thrown in, we constantly need to find workarounds when creating new sets because of shortage of parts that come in 4 and 6 quantity.- the instructions to build predesigned settings are quite hard to get for a kid but most dissapointing is that the variety is very poor, all designs look the same. (We will post some pics of new designs that we came up with)We do recommend this set because we cannot find anything better for 4-5 y.o. on the market.

It would have been nice if the accompanying design photos had shown multiple sides ...
I purchased this set to have at our house when our young grandsons visit. One of the boys especially loves building and has been building Lego kits and other construction products for several years. He was excited over this new set. It would have been nice if the accompanying design photos had shown multiple sides of the more advanced designs so he didn't have to guess which parts he needed to complete the areas that weren't shown in the photo. That was something of a setback. I would recommend that the manufacturer include step by step instructions or more complete photos of the advanced designs or both. The individual pieces are sturdy and well made. Our grandson really liked the gears and moving parts. Overall a good concept.

Great for Little Minds Needing Lots of Stimulation!
We got the Quercetti Georello Tech kit as a Christmas gift for my son, who is in third grade. The kit consists of different sized gears, links that you can put together to make a chain of sorts, cranks, segments, all of which can fit together in various ways to create mechanical objects, be they specific or abstract. In short, my son is special needs. He loves to take things apart and figure out how they work, he likes to improvise making his own toys to express his imagination and interests. After scouring Amazon's catalog I chose the Quercetti Georello Tech kit because I wanted something that would fulfill his craving for taking apart, building, and improvising, and would also not end up frustrating him in trying to put something together. I saw another reviewer mentioned getting this kit for a special needs child and after seeing how happy they were, decided this was the one.I should probably point out one of my son's conditions is ADHD. He can hyperfocus on something if it holds his interest, otherwise forget it, and he can and does get bored pretty quickly. The Quercetti Georello Tech kit passed the litmus test in our house with flying colors - he played with it for hours every day during his winter break. We'd gotten him a few other toys and the kit was the only one he consistently returned to every time. We were REALLY impressed. His favorite thing was to create robots... and I'll confess Mom and Dad had some fun with the kit too! I've been tempted to get another kit so we can have more parts to build and invent. Highly recommend.

not what I expected
I bought this for my 5 year old grandson, who loves to build things. I was disappointed in that the pictures showing different configurations contained bases not contained in this set. Also had some issues with the taller structures not standing well while the gears turned.Just had it for a day and I expect my grandson will find ways to have fun with it, just not exacting what I had expected based on the other reviews.

Nurtures creativity in children
Our children, between 3 and 12 have loved this set. Honestly, I don't even remember what designs are intended by the set. My kids use it like they use lego-they put pieces together to make whatever appeals to their mood at the time. Ideally, the set is best for ages 10 and younger.

Entretenido

Fantastic toy for stimulating young minds
My 6 year old son got the tool box kit of this last year and absolutely loved it, as did I. So to expand the set and increase the scope of our constructions, i bought this pack as well. To summarise, its a similar concept to Lego and other such toys, but with more of a clockwork focus, so using cogs, chains, pulleys etc. to create a moving structure. For any young budding engineers, this is an excellent toy. You get a little booklet which gives you some ideas to recreate and allows littlens to get used to whats possible, then let the imaginations flow and see what they come up with on their own. Great fun for both kids and adults alike. The pieces are made from a durable good quality plastic, and all fit together easily. Its a little more complex than things like Lego, in that you have different types of connectors and can attach sections at different angles etc. but this really helps enhance the capabilities. With a little guidance, my boy got the hang of it very quickly and only really needs help occasionally separating the odd stubborn piece when taking items apart. Hours of fun and much better than most of the mind numbing toys available nowadays. Watch out though, as its easy to get involved and before you know it, the adults have taken over and are doing more playing than the kids!

A source of endless fascination.
My five year old has been saving up for months for this set, he finally earned enough to “buy it” (pay me back for it) today. Santa brought him a much easier, companion, set for Christmas and it became obvious that he needed something more challenging. This set came up in an “Amazon recommends” email. I knew it was exactly right as soon as I saw it. My son agreed.Today was his first time out with this gear set. With a small amount of guidance he was able to build one of the big constructions and wouldn’t even pause for food. Later on this afternoon he sat down by himself and built two further constructions. They were supposed to be ones in the manual but he went off script and built hybrid models based upon them instead. The replay potential of this set seems endless. My son is completely fascinated! The only time he really needs our help is with disassembly, as his small hands aren’t strong enough to pull out the small connector pieces. The overall quality of this set is really good. There are a few smaller pieces that a bit more than average care will need to be taken with, but I foresee this set having a long life and a lot of use.

gute Qualität, viele verschiedene Arten des Zusammenbaus. Besonders interessant im Zusammenhang mit anderen Packungen von Georello zum kombinieren. Sehr lehrreich.
