Elmwood InnFine Teas Black Currant Black Tea, 16-Ounce Pouches

My all time favorite tea is the Black Currant iced tea served at Jason's Deli and Cafe Express. I have been endlessly searching for that same delicate flavor. Compared to Jason's deli, this tea has a slight bitter taste and a mildly artifical flavor.I brewed this tea the same way I do all my iced tea, in a 12 oz. coffee pot that is rarely used for coffee. I put 1/4 cup of the tea leaves in the basket and only brewed while the water was emptying into the carafe. I instantly poured into a half gallon pitcher and added enough water to fill. I left the pitcher on the counter until it was close to room temperature and then placed in the refrigerator.On the second batch I decided to add a family size "green tea" bag to the carafe and put 1/4 cup of the black currant tea leaves in the brew basket. Followed the same procedure as before but instead made one gallon of tea. I prefer it brewed with the green tea as the bitter and artificial flavors were greatly reduced. It is all a matter of personal taste, some people prefer the stronger flavors in their coffees and teas. As I do not use sugar, I prefer teas that are mild, smooth, and delicate in their aromas and flavoring.

We bought our black currant previously from a shop in Durango, Colorado. We would have them ship us 4lbs at a time. Unfortunately they quit carrying loose leaf tea and were unable to tell us which brand the used to carry (4 lbs lasted a while and the current staff did not know)Anyway... we had been in search of another quality black currant loose leaf tea. One without the “raisin” taste.We really like this one and have reordered it multiple times. Still not as good as the one from Durango but pretty close.We keep searching but this one is good too.

Not what I expected. When you open up the package, the aroma is divine, though it reminds me more of barberry than black currant. This aroma is absolutely not typical for black currant tea. Nonetheless, it smells wonderful... while it's still in the package. Once you make tea with it, it tastes nothing like it smells, and absolutely nothing like a black currant tea is supposed to taste. The taste is almost like any green tea, nothing special or aromatic about it. It's good if you want a cup of green tea. I'm not green tea drinker, so this taste doesn't cut it for me when I want black currant tea. I do not recommend this.

I first tasted the Black Currant Black tea in a restaurant in Fredericksburg, TX. It was served as an iced tea on a hot Texas day and it was outstanding. The store across street sold so we bought a bag and took it back to San Antonio with it. We drove back and forth for several years to buy this tea until last summer we were crushed to find out the store no longer carried it! Well, here it is on Amazon (of course!) and I couldn't be happier. Love this stuff! Bought my wife the Orange Vanilla while I was at it...

I blend this tea with Ceylon black tea and it is wonderful. I know, everyone's taste is different, so you may not enjoy as much as I do. It arrived well packaged, well sealed and fresh. I keep it in the refrigerator to extend the life.If you are worried about loose tea as opposed to teabags, don't. I bought a coffee maker that I use exclusively for tea. I'm going to come right out and say this checks all the boxes for me. All around I'm glad to have purchased this tea.

This is a very nice flavored tea. My Wife loves it. There was a mixup in the warehouse and we received two bags of a blueberry flavored tea bafore we received the correct item. Amazon Customer Service was very helpful in getting everything straightened out. It just took longer to get what we wanted than is normal for orders from Amazon.

We loved the fruity flavor, its a smooth soothing tea at the end of day
