Best coffee I've ever bought
My husband and I got an espresso machine from his mother 12 years ago. We tried different whole beans through the years, but for the better part of the last decade, we have exclusively purchased Papa Nicholas Italian Espresso whole bean coffee. It is reasonably priced, and is far and away the best tasting strong black coffee/espresso considering flavor, bitterness without tartness, and overall aroma. It's extremely smooth when you make a caramel macchiato but not so smooth that you miss the flavor. It's the *perfect* espresso style coffee bean.We just updated to a new espresso machine, but were sad to see our Papa Nicholas coffee unavailable on Amazon and nearly $20 to ship from their website. So we switched to RainForest Coffee Co, which is really good... but still can't top Papa Nicholas. It's back on Amazon now I see, so once we run out of our surplus of auto-shipped other coffee beans, we'll be going back to the best. :)

Good blend but not transparent with the percentage of Hawaiian Kona coffee bean.
Is it 10% Kona or 50% Kona? Still it's good blend bag of coffee bean. If not mistaken, they do air roasting. The roasting is good. Good balance. But short tale of taste.

Elite Coffee for the Proletariat
I've tried about 50 different brands of coffee from Amazon. This is the best overall, with a strong aroma and flavor. I'm surprised that this does not have more reviews. Better than Kicking Horse, Volcania, Bulletproof, San Francisco Bay, Peace Coffee, Mayan, and many other brands. I'd wager that it is better than yuppie brands like stumpytown and smellyman hatfarm treepoodle cat shark roosterfish.

Mediocre (due to age)
Beans had some age on them. Not quite rancid, but a little too close to "gas station" coffee given what I paid. I'm sure it would've been a fantastic cup had I gotten it closer to roasting (or perhaps a better job was done with sealing).

Beans Seem older dry, almost burnt
The smell wasn't to great and I love coffee. But the beans seemed old. I love toasted southern pecan I get it in Cameron's usually. But wanted to try and see if someone could beat them. And unless they send me some fresh roasted beans to compare. I'm going back. So you know who I'm comparing to.This coffe has a slight bitter taste. And it's supposed to light roasted. But compared to other light roasted beans I normally get this is darker. So I'd say for me it's a dark roast. If you look at the beans side by side you can see. Well I can. You can see left is lighter skinnier smells like toasted pecan mmm. This one was darker and dull, and dry looking. Smells almost burnt. I'm like well some times you have to grind it to get the right smell. And no that didn't help. I'm probably just to picky. But its a no go for me. So now I have 3 different coffees I need to find a new home for.Ok for taste. And smell after brew. And I brew mine one cup at a time. I like it fresh.Smell - well like coffee. But not like mmmm.. give me that kinda smell.Taste - darker then what I usually have. Not to much nutty flavor. Which is what I want.Kinda bitter took more sugar then normal.I add pure turbinado sugar. And homemade caramel. With creamer of califia toasted coconut & almond milk blend. So if you want a dark roast with slight bitter. This coffe is for you.If they want to send me fresh coffee to review I sure will.

Too pricey
I love the special house blend and I ordered it twice at $5.71. When I went to order another bag I noticed that the price jumped up to over $17. That is nearly three times the price. Great coffee and if the price went down again I would purchase but there is no way I’m paying this much for coffee. Only reason for one star is the price. I would’ve given it five stars at regular price.
