GE DSL Phone Line Filter (76249)

My DSL modem supposedly has a filter built into it but I was getting internet disconnections any time someone picked up the phone. It was momentary, but just enough to be noticeable. Contacted my ISP who assured me I did not need this since my phone is plugged directly into my DSL model and that modem's phone port has filtering built right in. They wanted to schedule a home visit, and let me know if they determined there to be a wiring problem in the house then it was on me to pay for the work.I figured for ~$5 this was worth a try, and I'm glad to have made that gamble. It works great, I've not had any issues with phone/internet inerference since attaching this to my phone line. I would recommend anyone experiencing similar issues give it a try! Worked for me!

As far as DSL phone line filters go, they either work or they don't. I bought the GE model because of the name. I've purchase no-name brand filters in the past, and they didn't work from day 1. I know, you get what you pay for...I would have given this product 5-stars if it just felt a tad bit sturdier. With the combination of quality and price, you can't go wrong with this filter.

These keep my vacuum high functioning. Easy to change, easy to see when they do need changing.

I have DSL with CenturyLink ISP and a Linksys router and modem, something between the service or system was not compatible, or the device was defective, who knows? I picked up my phone hoping to retain internet and my internet went down within 5 secnds, when i hung up my phone, it came back. Whether defective or incompatible, I had to get one from my internet provider instead, got my $$ back for this as it clearly did not work.

Close inspection of the photo and some comments seemed to indicate that this filter has four copper/brass contacts, which would accommodate a 2-line, 1-jack setup. It has two contacts. I have no reason to question the quality of this filter; in fact it is probably high quality for standard 1-line use. I am submitting this review to clear things up for someone in my situation.GPG

I bought 2 of these filters because I had a horrid buzzing on my phone line which was caused by my DSL computer line. These filters were replaced twice within a 4 month period. I had no idea they would wear out so fast. They don't last very long at all. I ended up having my home phone disconnected and now I have a data only line for my computer. Not sure if other filters last longer or not. These did not last.

I've had DSL for a while, and recently connected a phone to an old jack in my bedroom. This jack has ancient wiring, and when the reception on an old corless phone I plugged in was very staticy and inconsistent I initially attributed it to wiring. Around this time my wireless DSL started "disconnecting" randomly. I researched the issue and discoverd that a filter is required on all phone lines and that that was likely the cause of the static as well. I had tried several phones and finally bought an old corded wall phone. We this affordable little gizmo solved all of my problems. The bedroom phone is now crystal clear and my wireless internet no longer disconnects randomly. Problem solved. If your looking for something to solve a similar problem, this is your gizmo.

this product works superior to the DSL noise filter my DSL provider supplied with my service install. much, much better on high speed music and video programs/files. I like this filter and the price was better than some big box stores around here. I like that Amazon has, so far, tried to keep prices low. so far they have. and like I say this seems to be a good quality unit. I did need a good filter on all my phone lines.
