Performed as promised
Originally I ordered the Gardus LintEater at Amazon, and with it I pulled out three plastic shopping bags' worth of lint (!) that had accumulated over a period of more than 35 years in my condo unit. (I'm sure the pipe had never been cleaned.) This lint had been packed so tightly, I needed to work hard, bit by bit, with the little rotary chopping tool (included in the original kit) to make headway. It was a dirty, sweaty job, but effective in breaking very solid blockages.Further, the vent pipe run was longer than 12 ft. I compensated by running the LintEater in from both ends -- at the exterior vent opening, and at the dryer end. However, to my surprise, after completing this process, laundry drying time was still running way too long. That's when I ordered the extension kit, again via Amazon. The extension enabled me to run the brush all the way through, till it came out the other end. Doing this, I hit a lint blockage I had not been able to reach before. Another bag's worth of lint! At last I can dry a load of towels in one pass. Delighted.Note: I gave this product 5 stars because overall it worked outstandingly well. However, you should know that the Gardus LintEater works much better and the process goes faster if you work with a co-conspirator. You see, Gardus had to make the shafts flexible enough to work through 90-degree bends in vent pipes. But there's a tradeoff: with the drill running, lengths of 3-4 or more connected shaft segments quickly kink up before you feed them into the pipe. Working alone at first, I had to connect and disconnect shaft segments each time I ran deep into the vent, to avoid having too much loose shaft outside the pipe -- it would kink up. Very time-consuming.Later, having an assistant let me stand at the vent opening, feeding and guiding the shaft, while the other guy stood far away with the drill. By keeping the loose shaft straight, this arrangement generally prevented kinking. The whole process went at least 3x faster than my solo experience because I didn't have to assemble and disassemble sections each time I ran the thing in and out of the vent pipe.Another thing. The instructions caution you to wrap tape around each joint as you assemble the shaft segments. I spent a lot of time doing this, at first. However, later I omitted this step, which also saved time. However, if you do ignore this step, know that you run the risk of losing your shaft AND brush inside the pipe. This could be a very, very expensive problem to solve, thus I don't recommend it. I myself compensated for the added risk by tightening each joint with extreme care. Maybe I was just lucky, but it worked.Overall, very satisfied with this product.

Works like a dream!
If you look into you dryer vent from the outside and you see it is partially clogged, or you notice your dryer is not working quite right, the problem just might be your vent is plugged. I purchased these to go with the kit I purchased to clean out my mothers dryer vent pipe. I was tired of her complaining, her new dryer took 2-3 cycles to dry clothes, in her new house. I ran the dryer and it was so hot it would burn you hand. I went outside to look a the pipe and it was completely plugged. I purchased the Gardus cleaner kit from the local Do It Center, and hand to turn it by hand, I did not have a drill with me. I cleanded 20 lbs of lent out of 50 feet of vent pipe. After purchasing enough extensions to clean the pipe properly and using my drill, the pipe looked like new! I would recommend getting the retriever tool, especially if you have your kids helping. We managed to disconnect at about 20 feet in but with a little luck, able to get the pieces out without dismantling the pipe. I have no idea how this would work with flexable dryer vent pipe. I would recommend getting rid of that crap, its not rated for most dryers! Steel or aluminumn duct is all that I have seen recommended by the dryer manufactures.

Worked very well
Used this to clean out a fairly long run of dryer vent using a cordless drill and shop vac. I got a TON of lint out of there. You have to go slow and take your time as you add each length of attachment so you don't lose the thing down the vent. Once you get the hang of it, very satisfying to use. Will be cleaning out that vent regularly to prevent fire hazards and carbon monoxide risk.

Clean your dryer vent pipe easily. Ideally want a shop vac or an electronic leaf blower to help.
My family has lived in our house for over 10 years, and had never cleaned out the dryer vent tube. I always knew I should, but somehow never got to it. I finally decided it was time and did some research. Linteater brand seemed a little expensive, but when you consider you'll only buy one and can use it forever, then the price isn't bad.I found that Lowe's sold the same brand, so I picked it up and then got the extension kit from Amazon. I hooked up my shop vac to the dryer vent pipe inside the house, and then went outside and started running the lint eater from the exterior inwards. WOW!!! I filled up my shop vac with lint 3 times. I then put everything back together, and started up the dryer. My advice is that the first time you run the dryer after cleaning the vent pipe, you have someone hold a bag over the exterior vent because when I started my dryer another huge bunch of lint came out the pipe. That blew out onto the lawn. Not a huge deal as I picked up the big chunks and then the rest simply dissolved in a couple of days.

Great choice for dryer vent pipe cleaning
I have a 23 foot long dryer vent pipe that was totally clogged up on a house we recently purchased. With this being an extremely long vent pipe and with the house being 24 years the lint had hardened and unfortunately would not unplug with just the use of the extension kit and extra extensions. I actually had to take the pipe apart from under the house in order to get all of it out. The Gardus LintEater was very helpful with the remaining half of the pipe where the lint had not already hardened and caked up. I think this kit would be excellent for most household jobs where there is not a severe build-up of lint.I believe that if in the future that I use this kit once annually, there should never be a severe problem such as what I had when we moved into this house. The Gardus LintEater Kit is easy to use. I did not find my Craftsman battery powered drill powerful enough and instead used a Craftsman 3/8" Variable speed drill that worked very well. But, if you do us an electric instead of a batterey-powered drill, be careful as the manufacturer does not recommend this. This product is effective for everyying but the most severed clogging of dryer vent pipes. I am looking forward to using it as a reliable tool for preventative maintenance.

Sleep easier
We have a very long dryer duct run, the home builder did not think this one through! House is 30-years old and our dry would not dry, before buying a new dryer we decided to see how bad the duct was, we are so glad we did not have a gas dryer! We took a large garbage bag of lint out, not sure how the previous owners dried their clothes! Now dryer works great but we will have to keep cleaning considering the length of the dusting run!

Very flexible.
I clean the dryer vents of a strata every 2 years (70 units) and these are the most flexible brand that I have used. Some brands are stiffer and have a hard time going around corners. They are also 3 feet long as opposed to some are only 2 feet long. If you buy the complete kit this is a great add on as it gives you 12 more feet of rod.https://amzn.to/3Sqw8P7

Excellent quality product
Excellent product. It worked very well to unclog my downspouts with their attachments. Connections are strong and effective. Use low speed drill to avoid twists and attach each length one at a time as per instructions.

If you have to clean a really long dryer duct
Add on flexible poles for the Linteater.

Downspout Cleaning
Used the product on long downspouts and it worked like a charm. It even bends around the 45 degree elbows. Always turn in the direction of the threads, never reverse the drill to pull it out. Also used it horizontally in the eavestroughing to clean our leaves and debris.
