Awesome
Carlos is a wonderful character, so interesting. Clay is much more straight forward, but a good solid anchor for Carlos. This is a really interesting and faceted story.

Love this series
This author's series are so good. I've read hundreds of books in this genre and sometimes during a read I all of a sudden get tired of the story line or the characters and want the book to be over. This has never happened to me with any of this author's books. I'm always firmly and fully engaged with the stories and with the characters. This book was another in a long line of successes as far as I'm concerned. Carlos was a wonderful character and it was a pleasure to see him blossom and be accepted as he was by Clay. I hated for the story to end. There were a few minor editing issues and it was wrongly stated that James was Joey's brother when he was, in fact, Finn's brother. Otherwise, good story. Hope there's another. I would also love to see cameos from the Brighton Boys, especially Saint's brother Johnny.

"Rebirth and determination" Carlos is a moving page-turner
I dove into M. Tasia’s popular The Gates Series with the standalone book number six, Carlos. FYI: Carlos truly is a standalone romance; the other characters present at the Gates complex serve as temptation to indulge in the rest of the series, but the love story of Carlos and Clay is touchingly intact.Despite the pandemic, my life has been busy as of late. For the past three nights, I dropped onto the couch at midnight to relax with a good book—this is my indulgence. Along with its page-turning plot, Carlos provided a certain warm comfort. I shared in the when-it’s-right-you-know-it feeling that the wary characters experienced. Carlos and Clay are damaged men, having endured a severe lack of love and security in their pasts that left them loners. Like ice cubes, though, when taken from the freezer, they slowly melt. And it’s poignant.Accompanying the gentle blooming of love between the damaged men, is gorgeous description. M. Tasia captivated me with her vivid illustrations of scenery and tourist sites (I feel as if I’ve explored CA and AZ beside the leading men), mouthwatering food, and intriguing art. I found myself wondering, is M. Tasia so well-traveled? A foodie? An art connoisseur? Or did she simply do her author’s research very well?Carlos is a tender romance coupled with mystery and suspense, not to mention several surprises at the end. In M. Tasia’s words, “rebirth and determination” are a profound theme of the story, relating to people and places. This is a moving read, and a quickly devoured one, too, as it’s difficult to put down. I highly recommend Carlos by M. Tasia.

Entertaining read
I'm in love with this series and this latest contribution doesn't disappoint. I'm not someone who analyzes a storyline. I look for an entertaining story. If I start to think of the carecters as real people that I feel for then its a go. This meets that requirement.

"I think I've finally found my home."
Carlos is book six in The Gates series by M. Tasia. This is my very first book by this author. First, I do need to say that it was said that this can be read as a stand alone. And, I agree, that it can. BUT, there are a lot of secondary characters whose stories have been previously told present. I was a bit confused at first until I just decided to tune them out a bit until it all fell into place, which it did. I would have had a better connection, though, if I had read the previous books.Carlos Fernandez is a thirty three year old successful artist. His back story is heart breaking. He is seven feet tall and has a very visible scar around his neck. I don’t want to give his history away but as a result of it, he has lived in self imposed exile. People are afraid of him by the sight of him. But Carlos wants to live closer to his younger brother, Miguel. He’s ready to attempt to live a normal life. He’s been in LA for about five months.Clay Everett is a police officer for the LAPD. He loves his job, and dreams of becoming a detective. It’s at Miguel’s wedding that he first meets Carlos. The wedding brought up all kinds of bad memories of his own past so their first meeting might not have gone so well. But when they meet again, and Carlos needs a tour guide, Clay is volunteered for the job.The attraction between these two is instant and strong. They start as friends but it escalates quickly. Clay is very protective by nature and he can see that Carlos needs help dealing with the public. Carlos may be a huge man, but he has such a gentle soul. Carlos has been with men but never in a relationship, and Clay has stayed away from relationships for a long time after his heart was broken. Neither were looking for love, but it found them.“I’ve never been so happy.”“Good. I want you to stay that way.”“With you around, how can I not be?”It turns out that Carlos’s past isn’t in the past at all but has been lurking, just waiting to strike again. The suspense aspect of this book took me by surprise. I didn’t expect it at all! This was a sweet, sexy and a bit suspenseful story that I enjoyed. These two were so good together. It was a quick read and I’m glad I decided to give it a go!“I think I’ve finally found my home.”

Enjoyed this book. Different from the others by this author. Great story, sad at times but the ending was great.I love that all of these couples live in the same building and treat each other as family

Healing hearts
Two men needing a way to heal find that they each give the other what they need. Love is sometimes just that love and in the eye of the beholder it can blossom.
