My chickens LOVE these!
I'm a bit new to raising chickens (about 1yr since my first chicks), and when reading up I saw several references to boosting protein along with a light in the coop during winter to maintain the birds laying cycle. Many sites/stores tout meal worms, but I saw some info about BSF larvae that peaked my interest. Specifically, that the BSF larvae have a much higher protein content and better nutrition profile. So, I went with BSF larvae and am VERY happy I did! Between the extra light and the larvae, my 12 hens held up with an average of 5-8 eggs per day. We even had a few days, in the dead of winter in NW Connecticut, with as many as 10 eggs!I will continue to feed my chickens BSF larvae as a treat and winter production booster for sure!

Chicken love them
I feed these to my chickens daily. Started doing it in the winter when bugs are not out-and due to the heat no bugs now either, so continue to feed them to my poultry. They love them, and come when I call and shake the canister for them!! Makes putting the chickens up for the night easy!!

Bad quality flygrubs
We've purchased different black soldier fly grub brands with no problem, and have had no problem with Amsey's meal worms, but these fly grubs are disgusting. They are really dark in color, almost died looking and have a really nasty smell to them. I find it hard to believe they were fed organic fruits/veggies. I should have returned them, but I opened and used one of the bags despite my hesitation. Now I still have an 11 lb unopened bag I don't care to give to my chickens. We purchased new flygrubs from a different company (with a decent smell and natural color to them). Very disappointing with these.
