Mango Butter Soap Base 5 Lb.

Perfect for a first time soap maker, who doesn't like the idea of having lye in the house. It melts wonderfully, but I wasn't able to overcome the original scent of it. I'm not sure if it's the mango butter thats potent, or something else. It's not terrible, but it's not really a preferred scent either, then again I used essential oils, and not fragrance oils (which I have since learned that there's a difference).

I love the texture of this soap, it is very moisturizing to me. I used it as a soap base for turmeric honey soap and lavender sage soap. I also dipped the outside of rose petals in the soap, let it harden, and peeled off the soap. They looked like beautiful white rose petals, and I used a clear base scented rose to be able to see the petals. This soap hardens quickly and has a funny smell while being melted, but it doesn’t smell like anything when it is hard. Amazing soap base for a pretty good price (especially for beginners).

I was skeptical to buy this online for my DIY soap project. Then I thought I'd give it a try. I'm so glad I ordered this. The soap is so creamy and moisturizing. While making soap, I washed what's left on my hand and I could feel that it has some oils infused in it. So this soap will not dry out your skin. The soap does not have any fragrance to it, so I added some fragrance oil along with coloring and dried rose petals. To another batch, I added coffee grounds and essential oils. I was able to make about 24 thin 2x3 inch soap bars from this 5 lb soap base.

It's a nice white soap with little to no scent, which I loved about it. However, I found when I tried pouring it after melting in microwave, it became thickened pretty quickly. It was hard to pour evenly because I had to reheat it often and it became a bit like silly putty.. Try at your own risk or mix with another white soap.

I found the "soap" smell a bit strong. Other than that, the soap is easy to work with.The base is fine for a handsoap. If you plan to use it for body or face soap, you will need to add some oils if you want some moisturizing.

I am new to soap making but found this base easy to use. I mixed almond scent, oatmeal, and color in to it and it worked in easily. I used the soap today and it lathers well and moisturized well. The soap base doesn't really have a scent so it didn't cover the scent I added. I really like this product. Can't wait to make more.
