The Sagas of Icelanders: (Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition)

This book is a pleasure to look at, a pleasure to hold and a pleasure to read. Triple pleasure. The text of many of the sagas is known to me in other forms and translations but this version is far superior and far more readable. Thank you. The rough cut format adds to the attractiveness of THIS book, it wouldn't, of course, work for many others but for this one... Excellent!

Contains many sagas and tales as well as background material. Well written and a good translation, as far as I could tell. Very accessible for a beginner like me. Its a big book but font is a good size, so easy reading. Comprehenive introduction to northern europes earliest literature. I bought as course reading but I will certainly go back to it for sagas I have not needed to read yet. Enjoyable.

Excellent preface and introduction enhanced my understanding and enjoyment of reading the sagas. Useful reference section too. Loved the deckle (hand cut) paper edges and the quality of the paper.

Bought as we loved watching the Amazon series Vikings, but was very dissapointed with this book, not what I expected and returned it
