Wow. Read it in one sitting.
I was not familiar with this author but the summary sounded Interesting and the reviews were good. And interesting it was as I read it in one sitting until 2 in the morning. The plot was creative and the author moved the plot along without extraneous nonsense. I really enjoyed the main character, DI Carr. I liked him mainly because he was normal. He didn't have skeletons in his closet, wasn't a drunk, wasn't searching for the man who murdered his mother, wasn't foul mouthed, wasn't a slob with halitosis, and wasn't fighting demons in his life. I find that so many police procedural books get bogged down with these flawed characters. It was refreshing to find a normal cop with a normal life who is well respected by his peers and does his job well. Yes, there were a few issues, but they were not outrageous. I think this author kept the focus on the plot, which is why I read these books, for the plot. This author kept her eye on the prize. I hope she writes more DI Carr books and I will definitely read her other books. I hope they are as good.

So glad I found this series
I lucked out coming across Diane Dickson’s books. Body on the Shore was so good. Could hardly put it down. Very unusual, creative plot. Starting book 2 tonight.

Excellent police procedural
I read a lot of British police procedural and found this book had everything I like. The plot is important to me but the characters are more important. All the characters were well defined, with interesting personalities. I liked them all for different reasons. The mystery was.complex and interesting. I hope there will be.more books in this series!

Good Procedural
A circumspect young woman is murdered and DI Carr is tasked with solving the crime. With a small team he hunts a case more complex and frustrating than th he imagined. This is a good police procedural. Carr is likable a nab nd the pace is good. I did figure out the plot but it was interesting watching it unfold. I wish they dispensed with the multiple pregnancy / young children/ long suffering troubled wives requiring kid glove handling. Boring.Otherwise a nice tight novel.

Body on the Shore
This series is top notch. To date I've read Body Out of Place and Body By the Docks in the Jordan Carr series. I've just opened Body On the Shore and I can tell you that it is up to the quality displayed in the others.Leila Allison Associate Editor Literally Stories UK

Expect-top notch writing
DI Jordan Carr is a fascinating main character in what promises to be a riveting new series from Diane Dickson. As a fan of her DI Tanya Miller series, my expectations were high so I was thrilled to find that DI Carr doesn’t disappoint. When a woman’s body is found on a beach in Liverpool, DI Carr begins his first murder investigation. But, he’ll not only have to sift through the clues to find the killer, but also identify the victim.Expect top-notch writing and a twisty turny story that will have you hooked. Highly recommend!

Somewhat predictable
I enjoyed reading this book, but it is somewhat predictable. One act twenty years ago had long lasting repercussions. It destroyed the lives of the dead girl on the beach, Graham, Rose, and Ben the blackmailing killer to name a few. I even felt sorry for Ben at one point in the book. But, Graham's miscalculation of Rose started most of the problems in this presense. He thought he had to shield her but she was stronger than he gave her credit. And, that's what caused there to be additional killings. It became apparent to me halfway through the book (well, probably not that quickly but certainly before the big reveal the author planned) who the second killer was. I plan to give this series another chance to see if the author hides the villain any better.

Thoroughly Enjoyed It
I’m so glad that I’ve found another good detective series to read. The characters are great and it’s well-written. It’s also the first series I’ve read that’s set in Liverpool - which is unusual, as it’s a large city. I look forward to reading book 2, now.

A promising introduction
After a couple of disappointments recently, it was a pleasure to discover a new author (to me) who can write a solid police procedural. The principal character and his team (thrown together at the start of the book) are well presented and believable, the plot holds water, and the affair is solved by a coherent police investigation rather than flashes of "intuition" or credibility-straining coincidences. I was left wanting to get to know the characters better and have already bought the next two books in the series. I guessed the twist in the story, so knocked off half a star, but added it back on for the interesting exploitation of professional genealogy - my own background!
