Northern Tool + Equipment 2536 Firepit Bench

These branches are a fantastic value. Being cedar, they should stand up pretty well to the elements.For assembly, you will need: wood glue, a mallet, a drill, several packages of 3/8” inch hardwood rounded screw caps, and the stain of your choice.I assembled four of these. My learning curve went from about an hour on the first to about half an hour by the fourth one. Over all the project will take you a couple of days if you are going to stain the benches, which I definitely recommend.The biggest challenge I faced was that the bench is curved and the lower support beams are angled as well. If the angle of the support pole is off, your bench will not assemble correctly. This part would have gone better with two people, but I managed.I recommend putting the wood glue onto the ends of the benches and poles and assembling them, but not drilling in the screws until you are certain that the alignment of the lower support beams is correct.The seller provided very good support. One of the lower support poles was cracked. They immediately shipped out a new bench without waiting for receipt of the bench I was returning, which I very much appreciated as I was on a deadline.All in all, super happy with these benches and with the customer support the seller provided.

This is a great value for your money! I stained it and put it around my fire pit! The only complaint I have is it took some strength to get some of the nails in all the way. However it is a great bench and I ended up buying another one for around my firepit for more seating!

Bought up four of these to place around my fire pit. The price is right! Great quality product- so simple to put together. About 11 pieces to fit into each other that make up the legs and bottom portion- that becomes one piece that fits into the top portion of the bench. Impressed with the width of the seat- much more roomy than I expected. Will be staining and sealing these for longevity. I want these to last a while and I expect that they will. They have a "long cabin"/rustic feel to them the way the pieces taper into each other. Very happy with these benches!

EDITED A YEAR AND 3 MONTHS LATER:Still great seating! I was lazy and actually left them outside all winter in the rain (and a tiny bit of snow) and we are still using them. I am planning to sand the varnish this fall and recoat them (because I did a horrible job the first time and it did not take right) Now the benches have an "aged" look to them where they grayed under the varnish, but it doesn't take away from them at all!Great seating. Ordered 3. Love the wood look so I just used clear varnish over the top which should help it last for quite a long time. Easy assembly.

This is a very nice addition to our yard. We put two of these around the fire pit. They go together quickly. In fact, there are only four steps in the instructions. Based on other reviews, glued all the joints. I recommend using an exterior wood glue that has a long set time. That way, you are not rushed or stuck if you make a wrong move.

The product is relatively easy to assemble, the problem is that the bench does not sit level-the legs do not end up level on the ground. Mine sits in stone so that is not an issue. The bench is sturdy and looks nice by the stone firepit. A good value overall.

I am not handy at all, but I was able to put the benches together without help. It would have been great to have a second set of hands, but anyone, even with no skills could assemble these benches. I did have a hard time on the first one, but I learned as I was putting it together, so the other one went together smoothly. The benches seem really sturdy and I'm going to weather seal them after they have weathered just a little bit. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that I struggled a little bit with the assembly.

Have to admit I don't write many reviews although I find reviews helpful. So bit of a hypocrite in this way. But these benches came a few weeks back and I just now took the time to assemble the 3 purchased. I agree with everyone else - these benches went together incredibly easy - and I'm not a handyman in any way. Easy and simple directions. As someone else suggested, did use wood glue for extra support, but I'm sure they're fine either way. Lightweight enough to move around as needed. Love these benches - look forward to staining them this weekend. Excellent valu!!
