A great upgrade from the Dell 3115CN with similar features.
I currently own a dell 3115CN. I've had it for 7 years now, and it's given me no trouble. I've finally had to buy new black toner for it, but no issues. My inlaws complained constantly about the reliability and ink-life of all their inkjet printers, so i told them to get one like mine. They put me up to the task of finding one similar. I tried to find them the 3115 specifically, but i realized it's lived its retail lifespan already. then I came off the Dell train all-together, and started comparing all of the different models of printers. for similar to what i have features of abilities, this printer came the closest. When we got the printer in, i set it up for them. It's got a ton of improvements over my model. You actually change the toner cartridges as individual cartridges, not a whole drum assembly ( i always found wasteful) it's got 2 sided scanning, and prints a bit faster then my model too. If i hadn't just bought new toner for my own printer, i would have immediately gotten back home and ordered the same exact thing for myself.I can't speak for the reliability of this particular model yet because it's not that old, but based on their own previous model, i am well impressed. One thing i can say about this currently is the quality and feature set is good.Other reviewers commented on the noise level, it's nothing i wouldn't expect from a laser print such as this. it's quieter then my 3115cn in comparison.

you'll like this one
Most of this printer works well. It is difficult to set up as it has so many settings and features that it is complicated. One feature though, is not working well at all, and as yet I can't solve the problem. We only have phone line for voice and fax. If you have that setup, YOU SHOULD NOT GET THIS PRINTER. It will only work if you have separate phone lines. It is supposed to work even if you only have one line, but it does not. I have to manually switch it from Telephone/fax line to answering machine/fax mode each and every time I enter and leave the office. If I leave it on ans mach/fax all the time, it breaks in to any incoming voice call with the receive fax tones right in your ear. I have to run down the hall to the location of the machine to stop it. If I leave it on telephone/fax, it won't listen and answer a fax while I am out of the office. A BIG PAIN IN THE BUTT. I should not have to pay for another phone line just to use the fax part of this machine. If you have a separate phone line, you'll like this one, but if you are a really small office with only one line and want an all in one, choose something else. I'm thinking of returning this one.

Worked well, until you power it down.
We own two of these, and have nothing but issues with them. We are hard on printers, but I would expect that if you power down a printer, you should be able to power it back up? One unit eventually powered back up on its own. The other? Just dead. Gotta find something else.

Exceptional printer for the price! I gave it 3 stars because there are minor compatibility issues with Mac IOS that the most up to date drivers have not fixed.

Good overall, but can't handle self-adhesive envelopes
I got this printer for a 3 attorney office where we have some macs and some PCs. Setup was a breeze overall, and everyone loves it so far. My rating would be 5 stars except the instructions say not to use self adhesive envelopes with this printer, which is a huge drawback since that is what we like to use.

This is a great MFP. This machine is a workhorse and I love it. Buy the separate wireless adaptor from Dell ($70) -- it's worth it. I love the wireless functionality and the ability to print via AirPrint (without an app) from my IOS devices by just redirectioning anything (email, photos, files, etc.). I did find it helpful to assign a static IP address on my router for the printer, so the printer's IP address didn't keep shifting every time I rebooted the printer or other devices (I googled my router model to find out how to do this -- lots of good instructions out there). I also found it helpful to turn off the Dell-brand toner cartridge option in the settings, so that third party toner cartridges can be used without any problems or nagging messages. I am using extra high capacity toner cartridges (really reduces the cost of running the machine), and I found LD toners to be good third party toners, and much cheaper. I also found it useful to alter the audio settings so the machine didn't beep constantly about everything; now it is very quiet. I love this printer, and find it very easy to use.

Terrific Multi-function Printer (terrific price, too!)
I did a great deal of internet research (including running cost) before choosing this multi-function printer. I purchased it from Amazon, b/c that was the best price. It works really well! The color is crisp, and the speed is VERY fast. The tray holds a lot of paper, so no need to constantly re-fill. It has become the favorite printer for everyone in our small office.

Very unreliable
Ok, we started out with 6 of these for my business. We replaced 5110's with this model. The printer prints well and functions well but will randomly produce an error that apparently is unfixable. Sometimes it's a paper jam. Sometimes it's a toner error and sometimes it's just a random numerical error that you look up. At first Dell sent out technicians to fix the printers but then they just started sending me more printers. I don't think the technicians were ever able to fix the printers but I'm not sure about that. We started out with 6 printers. In the span of 2 years we have had to replace 2 of them once, 3 of them twice and one 3 times. To Dells credit they keep sending printers but these are the least reliable printers I have ever seen. We are replacing printers with less than 25k impressions on the clock. It's weird. Today we had a paper jam and could not get the error to clear no matter what. After exhausting tech support another printer is on the way. Once the warranty is out on all these we are definitely moving in another direction. ** One caveat. A sure killer for this printer is card stock or envelopes. We had to replace two of these with less than 3k on them before we figured this out.
