Pick Me Up: A Pep Talk for Now and Later

Great winter book for SAD
I adore this book. It is a great way to get me out of my head when I am feeling anxious or stressed. It has some nice quotes in it. It also has lists, fill in the blank pages, some artistic prompts, an plenty of random mindless tasks like "cross out some negativity each time you are here." This book is decently lengthy, but there are no page numbers so I don't know a precise count. I also like that the format of the book is not linear. It is meant to be flipped through at random and pages can be completed in any sequence. Many pages are meant to be returned to over and over again such as the one I mentioned earlier about crossing out negativity. This book is light-hearted and it has helped me get through some of the drearier parts of winter with a smile. Just to mention, I have also bought some of the books you will likely see in the recommendations for this product. I bought "How to be happy (or at least less sad)" and "52 Lists for Happiness." You can see my full reviews on their individual product pages. But for a short comparison, I liked this book quite a bit more that "How to be happy" and not quite as much as "52 lists." The simple reason is that I prefer more writing prompts than drawing prompts. If you are more of an artistic person, "how to be happy" has the most drawing prompts and "pick me up" has quite a few too.

essential daily affirmation (in paperback!)
over the years, i have always tried to keep a journal for almost every reason: self reflection, record keeping, mental health improvement, decluttering of ideas, inspiration, happiness meter, running diary, etc etc. i say "tried" because inevitably, a few days or maybe even a few weeks later, i would loose the notebook, forget about the notebook's existence, or straight up abandon the project altogether.for a while i had given up on the idea of keeping a record of my daily thoughts and emotions.and then i opened "pick me up."what's different about "pick me up" is that the (arguably) toughest part of self reflection is already complete: considering the thought or action you need to capture or consider. adam has crammed a roller coaster of reflections, ideas and provocations that really make you think about feelings and emotions you may have otherwise ignored.i keep mine on my desk at work for times when i'm feeling overwhelmed, overworked, or even just a bit spacey and i find myself going back and forth between old and new entries, contemplating how i was feeling a week, a day, or even a few hours prior.if you've ever been interested in keeping a journal or recording your thoughts and feelings daily, this book is for you. even if you're not interested in keeping a journal or recording your thoughts and feelings daily, you will still find great value in what you're inspired to consider while flipping through the pages.all at once hilarious and heartbreaking, "pick me up" is an essential pick me up and well worthy of picking up.

We will be Okay.
I’ve never been one to finish a self help kind of book. Pick Me Up is so much more than that. It is fun, interactive, and productive all at the same time. It’s the kind of book that reminds us, that we all have struggles, but there’s hope. It reminds us to not take ourselves so seriously all the time. And as the Author reminds us throughout the entire book, we will be Okay. Hands down best book / journal I’ve read / written in. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to uplift their life, ponder, learn about themselves, and laugh. The best part, besides the fun quotes, as you go back, and see the things you wrote, and all your progress you’ve made, you get to erase, and smile at your accomplishments, and then restart as you feel fit. Looking forward to receiving his next book!

Great book!
I love Adam J. Kurtz's work, and Pick Me Up is no exception. It's got a great positive vibe without being over-the-top. There are a ton of great messages in this book and reminders (for me at least) to take step back and enjoy the little things. I love lists, and thankfully there are lots of opportunities to make lists in this book!I've decided that I prefer this kind of journaling (with prompts/activities) to just writing on blank pages. I tend to overthink and get bogged down in HOW to say things. So...I think the format of Pick Me Up helps me to express myself/decompress/enjoy the day a bit more freely. Even when I'm short on time, it's great to just open the book for a bit and doodle and jot a few lines. I end up being more honest with myself even if it's not pretty, and it's ultimately more fulfilling.

Great for gifts or yourself!
I love this journal, it has been my go to gift for so many people. This artist is great and all of his other books, prints, keychains, and various other things are also great! It has a good touch of reality with humor and creativity which is really great for journal, it doesn’t make it seem like a chore. The pages are all unique and really get your mind to open up.

Pick me up and write in me!
Kurtz does a great job at creating interactive, fun, and thought provoking pages. I don't usually write in books I own, but this one you have to! I love just opening to a page reading the one line of instructions and then going at it. Helpful to get out of a stuck mindset, to move you forward, all the having a bit of fun. Recommended for those who need a bit of a pick me up!

Not the kind of journal I had expected from other reviews
*seems like it is for preteens or teens, good for a younger person*wants many things posted to social media*some ideas are creative, but always suggesting to post to social media for the book made it off putting for me

Amazing and heartwarming journal.
This truly is an aesthetic product. So happy to receive it. The quality of the pages is so good that I bought the expensive pen available in my vicinity so that I don't ruin the beauty of it.If you want to know yourself a little better and wants to inherit the habit of writing regularly, you should definitely try this out!

No way
Definitely the most disappointing book I ever bought. Not worth your time or your money. It's already in the garbage….I wanted to like it and I surely was up for something different and alternative.I guess I am really open minded to things being different but I just could really not see the point of this…..at all.I wish I could have had a peak for a second to the book......that would surely had me avoid this.
