I really liked this book. It was made of faux leather. The binding feels really secure! It closes nicely. Pages are laid out nicely to the binding to where they feel secure! They don’t feel like they’re going to come apart on any moments notice. The pages do bleed through a little bit, but not with general ink.

I've typically shied away from using a bound book to take notes in. My notes seem so fleeting and temporary; putting them down in a book seemed entirely more permanent than anything I'd need. That being said, after years of switching between various pads of paper, digital notes (which have their place, don't misunderstand), index cards, post-it notes, dry-erase boards, etc., I think I've finally come around on the idea of taking notes in a book -- particularly one that manages to so deftly balance quality with affordability. There's nothing special about this book. It does not have a pen holder, or pockets for loose papers, or a calendar, or pre-printed page numbers, or anything else extraneous. There isn't even a "This Book Belongs To" title page of any sort. It's just a very well crafted book for writing. I prefer graphing paper for note-taking: it keeps my writing from wandering vertically and allows me to line up indents for headers or topic changes. If I need to sketch out an idea, it provides scale. When I need to scan through my previous notes, the cleanliness of my indentations afforded by the graphing paper make finding the needed information simple and frustration-free. The pages have a slight sepia coloration to them, which I very much enjoy - it is neither glaringly bright nor ickily cream. The graph lines are clearly distinguished but do not distract from your writing. The first graphing page of the book does seem to be somewhat married to the thicker stocked separator page, but skipping the first page also allows for a clean entrance into the book each time it's opened from the front cover (as opposed to using the bookmark to jump directly into one's current position). Otherwise, the pages can fold over flat when writing in the book without separating from the binding. The built-in bookmark keeps your place in the book, as you'd expect. The elastic band keeps the book closed when storing and transporting it. The corners of the non-binding side of the book are rounded just enough so that they won't catch on anything or cut into one's hand while resting it on the edges to write. I use the Sakura Pigma 50221 Micron pens to write in the book; they don't bleed through the pages or smear on my hand (or onto opposite pages when the book is closed). As I have not tried any other sort of pen, I cannot attribute the lack of bleed-through to the quality of the paper, or the quality of the pens; in any case, they go well together and I would recommend the user of one to consider the other. Other than the very small, discrete "AmazonBasics" imprint on the lower back cover, there's no labels or badges on the book at all. It's a very elegant design that does exactly what you're purchasing it to do. If, for archival purposes, the need arises for an external label, it is up to the owner to devise their own solution -- and I'm fine with that. The size of the book itself is perfect: large enough to record a reasonable amount of information on a page, but not uncomfortable or unwieldy to use in a moment's notice or on an unexpected surface. Its small footprint makes it easy to leave out on a desk without feeling as though valuable real estate is being consumed, which also ensures that it's quickly available for your writing needs. Overall, I strongly recommend this book.

Bought this mainly for a cheap grid lined notebook to practice Japanese in. I use primarily fountain pens, both water based and pigment inks. To my surprise the paper holds up well, little to no feathering and dries quick. No bleed through onto the back but I’m not applying layers to it. The cover is cheap, you see where the money was saved when compared to a moleskine or leuchtturm1917. And in my opinion, smells bad like a plastic. I’d recommend this for anyone looking for something cheap, not nice, but cheap.

As described. Good portability and very sturdy.

To begin with, this isn't a Moleskine notebook. Of course it's not going to hold up exactly the same way as something twice the price. Seriously!!!!!!? Those are some pretty unrealistic expectations, unless you happen to find a Moleskine on deep discount (which I have, multiple times). For what it is, at its regular price point, it is in my opinion pretty good (specifically, a 4.5). It has held up well so far, and the spine has not broken. (I actually have filled the back pocket and clipped stuff to the cover, and the cover and spine are still intact.) If this situation changes, my review will change accordingly. The paper used in this entire line is NOT fountain pen friendly, but I would be surprised to find such paper at this price. Further, actual graph paper, even bound, is USUALLY not fountain pen friendly, and this notebook is no exception. I have also found that regular markers, even the fine-tipped ends, bleed through, but pens of an approximate Flair density or thinner do not. (Flair pens in particular actually work quite well here. ) Overall, I found this notebook to be of better quality with better details than I have usually found at this price. It's better than it has to be (though NOT a Moleskine), and since I suspect THAT was the actual goal, I am rating this product accordingly. I have gotten the other notebooks too, to give them a try.

I bought this to start a journal and keep track of aches,pains symptoms of illness to talk to my doctor about. It has been wonderful and I absolutely plan to buy again! After 2 Months of Daily use, the front cover started to peel and come apart and the rubber band also broke off, so I duct taped it for extra sturdiness and durability. I also added a pen holder with tape and sewed ina a Button with a taped hair Tie for keeping it closed and together. The tape does not interfer with the pocket in the back i made sure it wouldn't. 2 Months after the taping and I am Halfway through filling the pages and I even numbered them on the inside. There has been no futher deterioration of the notebook and with my modifications its perfect for having around and with me. The second book i received has not fallen apart or lost its rubberband and was not subjected to daily use / me taking it everywhere. Its condition is still almost perfect. Which means that with good care these books can last a really long while.

Good size and it's nice that the notebook is dotted. It has an elastic strap to close it, a string to mark your place in the book, and a pocket at the end of the book to store stuff. The paper is about as thick as your typical printer paper and the cover is sturdy. I bought it when it had a deal so I could write crochet patterns in it, but I think it would also be great for for note-taking or scrapbooking.
