Great quality and sharp
Great quality and sharp. Love the rubberized grip, it doesn't slip out of your hand even if your hands are wet. Comes with a sheath and can be carried on your belt.

Nice Blade!
So I just got my Freescape fixed blade and ran it through a couple tasks, and I have to say I love it.I also have to say the main reason for buying this knife is to be part of our Peace Corps kit. I has made the cut...literally. We will have to do an update after 2 years of every day use wherever we end up in the world.Anyway, the knife feels good in the hand, everything is solid construction, including the sheath. I like the Green accents, they have a similar feel to the "Orange" in the Bear Grylls line of Gerber's stuff. Other than that the handle is a grippy rubberized material, and feels good. The blade itself has a good balance and makes you want to chop stuff up with it just holding it, it came sharp right out of the packaging. So I ran this knife through a few kitchen tasks and it excelled in all 3 focuses this Santoku inspired blade was designed around. I cut up some veggies, herbs, and even chicken with it, and it was just like one of my actual kitchen knives I would use everyday but smaller. Except it doesn't stop there, you take it out in the field and it has outdoor abilities too. It shaves tinder well, feather's sticks, and chops through branches for kindling, and hacks up paracord or rope easily. I certainly don't see it stopping there, but that's where I did.The sheath is decent...like most of Gerber's sheaths, they're never a 5 star but they work. Things feel alright on it, and the hook and loop closure is one I haven't seen before. It's not bad.I personally do like this new camp kitchen knife and am glad to have it as part of my kit. If anyone have any questions about it, feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer them!

Sharp Camping Knife
I bought this knife for camping, but it is the sharpest knife in my house, so I use it daily. This knife is sharp with a great sheath. It is not rust proof, but it is sturdy and rugged enough to use often or to take camping. It is also large enough to cut thick fillets for the campfire. If you need a camping knife, you cannot go wrong with this one.

Doesn't fill the niche: too short, too thick, way too heavy
I thought this would be a good substitute for a chef's knife or Santoku knife while car camping and/or backpacking. Unfortunately it doesn't fulfill that task for a number of reasons. While the blade has a decent rocker, it is too short - about 4" versus 6" on my shortest chef's or Santoku knife. The handle is similarly short and also very narrow. Taken together, these things make it difficult to get a good pivoting slicing movement. I guess if you were just banging the food with it, like a cleaver, it would work OK.The back of the blade is ridiculously thick - 0.15" versus about 0.09" on a chef's knife. You can see from the photo how it gradually tapers from the edge, then bulges out suddenly. If you are slicing something thick and rigid (say, carrots or potatoes), that part of the blade ends up ploughing through the food rather than slicing through. The short, stocky blade shape is actually pretty good for spreading, however. Guess if you were just making PBJs it might be the do-it-all knife. And while all that beefiness in the blade surely makes this a durable piece of gear, it's an absolute beast when it comes to weight. No way I'd want to lug this monster up the mountain, especially after blowing $20 on those titanium cutlery sets to shave grams. One good thing I can say is that it comes with a sheath, unlike any of my chef's knives, but as you can see from the other reviews, that's the one thing most everyone else said was its shortcoming.

one fault knife
This knife has excellent balace, and is sharp put of the box. The shape is perfect for a camp kitchen. It is small enough for backpacking. The problem is the sheath. If it is up side down the knife falls out no matter how tight you make the flimsy strap. To make matters worse, the strap is so flimsy it came apart on the secon day of use. Summary: Good knife poor sheath.

It's a Gerber. The name says it all.
I don't own this knife and have never even seen one in the flesh but I've owned plenty of Gerber products. If this knife is anything like anything else they produce, then you will be disappointed.

A great choice for a camp kitchen, used this knife in a cabin high in the mountains, worked awesome. Sharp, holds an edge well, good grip.

Good Knife. Great Value
Very good knife for around the campsite and at home as well. Easy to control and fits well in the hand. Oh, and did I mention it is very shatp? Over all, a very good knife for the price.

Blade is sharp out of the box. Have yet to use to see how the edge will hold up.

Coltello da cucina valido per rigging
Eccellente.
