9 Month Review
TL;DR- It's slow, but makes up for it in other areas. Love this little guy.I have had this 2-in-1 for a bit more than 9 months now, and I still use it on a daily basis.A bit of background. I am in the IT field and have also been building my own gaming computers since I was a teenager. I have both a gaming desktop and laptop. I also had the previous model of this, the T100TA.This little guy is not powerful. Not even going to sugar coat it. The Atom processors are pretty bad. But, for what I use it for, it's perfectly fine. I mainly use it for PayPal Here (accepting payments via card readers), media, web browsing, light Office usage, and very light gaming.Pros-- Long battery life. This thing gets pretty close to the advertised 11 hours. One of the big selling points for me.- Light. Because of it's size and use of a plastic keyboard, it's very comfortable to carry around for long periods.- Micro-USB charging. Another reason I bought this over a Surface. I can charge this from a portable cell phone battery, making this device even more portable. Also, no need for a proprietary charger. Even 5W wall chargers can power this thing, though it will only power it, not charge it.- Decent screen. I have seen a lot of people complain that this doesn't have a 1080p display, but I don't feel that's an issue. The screen is bright and colorful. To be honest, it looks better than the screen on most of my devices. I really enjoy watching movies and TV series on it. Perfect size for a touch screen.- Aluminum tablet body. Some people may not care about this, but I feel it gives a very premium feel to the device, something that was lacking on the previous model.- Stays cool. Unlike the Surface line, this thing stays cool. Using a 2W CPU has its advantages.- Has a full 64-Bit version of Windows. Most people may not care, but I feel it's a nice thing to have.- The keyboard. Another reason I chose this over the Surface, or even the 128GB model of this device, is the fact that i can carry it around while the keyboard is attached, like a laptop. With the other devices, the keyboard can't hold up the screen without it closing or detaching from the screen.Cons-- The keyboard. The keys are a bit cramped and small. The Surface has a much better typing experience. Long typing sessions can start to hurt your hands.- Speakers. The speakers are decent, but they point backwards so sound is pointing away from you, which can cause issues with volume. They should have tried placing the speakers on the sides or the front, but I know that would have raised the price.- Speed. This thing is slow. The eMMC storage helps a lot, but not as much as a true SSD could have. The processor is crazy slow and the integrated graphics are poor. But, it does boot up pretty quickly.- Storage. I have the 64GB model. Not a lot of space. Paired it with a 128GB microSD card, which works fine, but can be slow.- USB 2.0. I knew this was only a 2.0 port when I bought it, but the previous model had a 3.0 port.Like I said before, for what I use it for, it's fine. It is slow. I'm used to very fast computers, but the mobility, battery life, and price make up for it in my opinion.Things take a couple of extra seconds open and the CPU seems to constantly be at 50% usage or more.I can play games like Stardew Valley at 60fps and PS1 and N64 emulators on lower resolutions fine, but beyond that, don't even try. This is definitely better than the previous model I had. Aluminum casing instead of plastic, 4GB of RAM instead of 2GB, better processor, and Windows 10 makes using a touch screen tablet a much better experience. In conclusion, this thing is great for the price you're paying. The speed is the biggest flaw, but it really makes up in other departments. If you are needing something more powerful and have a bigger budget, a Surface Go may be a better option.

Lots of problems with wifi connectivity
***Update: After I'd had this for six months, I finally got fed up with the wifi issues and did some research. I found that several others have the same complaints -- poor signal strength in the same spot that other devices report good signal strength, and slow wifi speeds. What I learned was this: It really does appear to be an internal antenna deficiency. Some reported success with putting the device close to the router (not always convenient), with using a USB wifi dongle rather than the internal wifi (uses your only USB port), using your cell phone as a wifi booster. There is a driver from late in 2015 that does seem to help. Oddly enough, however, it is an OLD Windows 8.1 driver for the wifi adapter. If you wish to pursue this, you should create a system backup, and carefully check the driver download for any viruses or malware. Search Atheros Wireless LAN driver 11.0.0.601. If you combine this in a search for the ASUS T101 or T102, you can find message board threads in which this fix is discussed and one even has a link to a Lenovo page where you can get the driver (I know, pretty risky stuff, here -- old driver, different manufacturer site). All I can say is that I did manage to get the old driver installed (it wasn't easy -- Windows did NOT want that old driver on this machine!) and it does seem to have made a significant improvement in performance. This will not fix the wonky touchpad or the tiny keys, but it at least makes the machine usable.I've had my transformer for a while, now.Pros -- it is small and pretty portable. Battery life is EXCELLENT. I haven't had app or operating system issues.Cons -- the track pad is just wacky. I don't like track pads, anyway, so disabled it and put in a USB mouse, although that gets clunky when I need to use the single USB port for something else (there is a setting to only disable the trackpad if a mouse is detected). My biggest issue, however, is that the wifi just doesn't work very well. I can be somewhere that my phone, my kindle, my laptop all report a strong wifi signal, and this device seems barely able to connect and stay connected. When it has a good connection, things are snappy and responsive, but I've only found one site where that is the case. Very disappointing.

Great value in a portable computer
First off this Asus transformer book is a replacement for an earlier version of this model I purchased three years and seven months ago. Just so you know the old one is still working, but I wanted to replace it when one key starting sticking (the solution was to pull off the cover to the one key, and it works as it should). There are a few positional changes on this version; the plug in for the power connection is on the left instead of the right, which works better in my opinion for positioning (still could be a touch longer cable though). The lock on the screen which connects to the keyboard is now magnetic instead of a push button to release, a good improvement. The touch screen is still as responsive and scrolling is a breeze; so nice when you are poking around the internet or you need to enlarge a picture, and way cheaper than an IPad. You have a requisite USB port, a micro-USB for the charging cable and the buttons for powering on and volume are nicely positioned on this model. The computer has a lot of features already built in, including Microsoft operating system, so you are basically up and running in no time. I find the keyboard fine for typing, especially if you compare it to a phone keypad, and I have large fingers so if I can type at 100 WPM then so can you. It is light and portable, good for slipping into a purse or small pack and perfect therefore for travel. I surely do not miss lugging my seven pound brick around when I fly, and getting through airport security checks is easier when all you have to do is whip this little darling out of your purse and present it for inspection. I do not game or require a huge RAM for my computing needs, so this fits the bill perfectly and at a price point I can totally live with. The fact that I ordered a newer model of this should tell you that I was perfectly happy with the first one and I expect this notebook to serve me for several years. If you have a child and do not want to drop a thousand dollars on an expensive Apple product then I would recommend you spend your money here. For this price you can buy three of them for the price of a single laptop. This would make a perfect computer for a University or College student who needs internet connectivity, a way to take notes and store a decent amount of data. All in all I am very pleased with this product and the fact that I purchased my second one should tell you that.

Good hardware for a decent value; poor software
This tablet is not for everyone. I took a chance on it based on pure hardware specs alone, along with the reasonable price-point compared to MS Surface devices. The main problem is the software. Right out of the gate, it became immediately apparent to me that it was not powerful enough to be running Windows 10, which is what it ships with.I wiped the eMMC drive and replaced it with Linux and have been happily running it for over a year. At first it was painful to get up and running because the Linux kernel didn't yet have support for its sound card, so I had to find a patch and recompile the kernel to get sound working. However, it was incorporated into Linux kernel 5.3, so as long as you're using a distribution that ships with a kernel of that version or higher and has the driver included, the system should work.I also tried running Android x86 on it, again, just over a year ago, which ran swimmingly but had no sound support (see above). But of course, plopping Android on this thing somewhat defeats the purpose of purchasing an Intel x86-based 2in1.As well, after getting this thing set up, I did some research on the Intel CherryTrail system-on-a-chip (SOC) that powers these guys under the hood. It turns out that just before these guys shipped, Intel decided to discontinue their whole Atom line of processors, including the CherryTrail. So in a way, these systems were DOA and there will not be a direct upgrade path. I'm guessing ASUS probably was able to make a deal with Intel to scoop up a large number of the chips that Intel was likely unloading at a very low wholesale price-point.After all I've said above, you'd think I would think this machine is a piece of junk. Not so. I love it.I can run MS Office 2010 using WINE. It works extremely fast and does everything I need. Chromium works fine as a browser in touch-screen mode. As the device is a bit underpowered, it doesn't work great on heavy sites such as Facebook or Slack. But thankfully, these sites just take longer to load than I'd like, but once they've loaded in all of their Javascript-heavy glory, they work quite well. YouTube works well enough.I love the keyboard, unlike many people here. It feels great to me, and not flimsy at all. The trackpad is a bit jumpy, but seeing as you can use the touchscreen as a mouse and turn off tap-to-click, this is not a big problem. The picture on this device is beautiful. It seriously looks really sharp and crisp. I remain impressed by it to this day.The battery life is phenomenal. I can stretch it to 2 days on a single charge.People that would see me using the device at work would turn heads and say "what is that?" After I would show off its features, everyone wanted it. Even iPad users that spent thousands of dollars on their beautiful device from Apple said that my device looked preferable to them, because they could use a full desktop version of MS Office on it, unlike the crippled Office that ships for IOS.So what was the point of writing this review, seeing as the machine doesn't seem to be readily available anymore? I don't know. I just know I've really loved this thing and wanted to give a different perspective on some of the negative reviews. If only ASUS has understood that this device doesn't *want* to run Windows 10, it could have been a great or at least moderate success. They got the hardware right, just not the software.
