Logitech Webcam C110 (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

I got this webcam because of the very reasonable price and because I'd read that it's compatible with the Mac OS. And it is. Sort of. If you go to Logitech's support page for the C110, you'll find drivers there, but they're only for Windows operating systems. THERE IS NO SOFTWARE FOR THE MAC OS IN THE C110 SECTION OF THE LOGITECH WEBSITE. The reason is because it's plug and play. My Mac Mini immediately saw that the C110 was connected, but there wasn't any software on my computer to run it. If you want to use it for FaceTime, this isn't an issue. It works immediately for those applications. If you want to use it also as just a webcam, it takes some doing. I'm not a hardcore computer person, so I ended up spending about an hour researching the issue, and downloaded a copy of Logitech Webcam Software for a different webcam, which was configured for the Mac OS. Fortunately, it worked.It was a bit of a mission figuring this stuff out. It's working now, though. The C110 isn't anything fancy, but it's a solid webcam, especially considering the price. Personally, I think a line or two in the Amazon.com product description addressing how it isn't completely compatible out of the box just as a webcam with Mac OS would be nice (again, if you want to use it for video calls and already have the necessary apps, it should work fine). And although Logitech's probably trying to migrate people to higher-end HD webcams, I think it'd be helpful to have the Mac OS compatible software I downloaded available on the C110 webpage, so people don't have to hunt around for it. In short, I believe the overall experience could've been better. Nevertheless, I'm very pleased with my C110 webcam.Update Dec. 4, 2014Well, it worked fine for a couple of days. My Mac Mini can still see the C110, but now no image is showing up in any of the webcam applications (FaceTime, Logitech Webcam Software, etc.) I'm a bit disappointed and put in for a refund.Update Dec. 5, 2014I just read an e-mail from the vendor. A replacement webcam is on its way. Cool.

This webcam arrived before the due date, in excellent condition, but with only one drawback....the software that came with it is out of date. The Logitech website no longer supports the tools that are included with the webcam. They instead refer customers to use Skype as a source for communications. That does not take away from the quality of the item for the price. It is just something that should, in my opinion, be included in the description by the seller. That being said, it is well worth the money and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a basic, inexpensive webcam.

EDIT: since the price is down to $16, that seems like a reasonable price. go for it if you don't mind less-than-great quality.-Kinda laggy+blurry, even moreso if something moves really fast in front of it as you'd expect for it to. Overall it's actually pretty good, but honestly not for the original price in my opinion. I recommend buying a used one in good condition. I got mine in good condition for under $8. (Seller sent it really fast, too.)It's pretty great if you can find it for cheap.

I bought this to use on my desktop for Skype calls with my grandchildren. After downloading the software from Logitech, I did a test on Skype.The webcam built in mic did not seem to work. But after just a little investigation, I found that the problem was not with the webcam. All I had to do was go into the skype program and change the audio setting by selecting the logitech C110 and the mic then worked fine. How can you go wrong for less than $8.

Pros:- Cost effective- Simple to install and configure- Can be mounted standalone on a desk or on top of a flat LCD panel- Works great with Windows 7- Mic is more than adequate; doesn't pick up background noiseCons:- Not Hi-def, but doesn't cost as much- Doesn't operate off my powered USB hub, must be connected to one of the PC's USB ports.- Limited software control (zoom, pan, etc.)

Like one of the other reviewers, I was a little dismayed to find a used item (in a bag, with the instructions on a sheet of paper, not in the box it's sold), but it looks just fine.After a call to the seller that the mic was broken, they immediately sent me a new one! I still need to catch someone on skype, but all audio tests and connections show up great right now.

Works in a pinch as a basic web cam.Nothing fancy, video from it is not HD by any means, but works for what I need.For the price I can't really complain though.Setup was super simple. Just plug it in to usb and computer (Win 8.1) and it is recognized.I use it for school using google hangouts and is great for that.

I was looking for an inexpensive webcam and microphone combo for my kid and didn't want to spend a lot but want it to function well. This webcam was easy to install and the picture and sound comes through clear. Now my child can go on skype and talk to her grandparents who lives in another state. Will definitely purchase another one for my parents.

La quería para un proyecto que quería llevar a cabo con una Raspberry Pi, y es exactamente lo que buscaba. Da una calidad más que suficiente y gracias a su bajo consumo se alimenta directamente del usb de la Pi sin precisar alimentación externa.

Compré esta cámara para usarla con un RikoMagic y funcionó perfectamente. No he tenido problemas con ella de momento. Llegó antes de la fecha estimada y adecuadamente.Una buena compra.
