Captivating, intriguing and unputdownable read. Absolutely recommend.
So, I finally caved and picked up the sequel, thinking, "Please don't be the disappointing second movie in a trilogy." because I really really loved the first one. And guess what? It wasn't.. disappointing I mean! Infact I loved it.Callie is still grappling with the aftermath of the traumatic incident that took place. The physical scars she bears from that night serve as a constant reminder of all that she has suffered. Despite her best efforts to move on, it seems that the nightmare is not yet over. When Callie and Des join the solstice celebration in the Kingdom of Flora, things take a sinister turn when they start to notice that things are not quite right. Strange occurrences and cryptic events during the celebration only serve to strengthen their belief that the Thief of Souls is still out there, lurking in the shadows and seeking to find Callie.Let's talk about Desmond, my newfound fictional crush. The guy's love for Callie is the stuff of romantic legends, and his protective instincts make my heart do a little happy dance. I adore the way he loves Callie and is fiercely protective of her. He is a true believer in her and helps her to see her strengths and capabilities. I simply love his powers, his arrogance, and intimidating demeanor. Callie's personal growth and development throughout the book are fascinating, as she becomes more confident and emerges from her shell. Now, the steaminess... or lack thereof! Laura, you sly wordsmith, you managed to turn up the heat without setting off the smoke alarms. The chemistry between Callie and Desmond is like a simmering pot of stew – not boiling over, but you know it's about to get deliciously messy and I am all here for it!The plot is a rollercoaster of weirdness - creepy kids, nap-loving ladies, soldiers playing hide-and-seek, trees shedding crimson tears - all adding to the suspense and intrigue. And let's not forget about Temper! She makes a dramatic entrance in this book and I was thrilled to see her make an impact. I was in awe of the friendship between Callie and Temper. I loved how Temper always had her back.Captivating, intriguing and unputdownable read. Absolutely recommend.

you won’t miss anything much even if you skip this book and directly jump into next one
My Rating: 🌟🌟1/2Type: Series – Book 2Genre: Urban Fantasy, Magical WorldPrimary Characters: Callie, Desmond Narration: Limited third partyI was skeptical to pick this book. I gave some gap before picking up book 2, thinking I won’t be biased. I definitely wanted to know the mystery of women in casket and more about those silent children, but that wasn’t enticing enough. The first half of the book started out good with Callie’s training and Callie getting comfortable in her new body. Des is accommodative and patient. Des takes her to different cities in night court. Yet, I felt like it lagged a lot in world building. Middle part of the book felt way too much dragged. None of the mystery got revealed. Not even hints till climax.Like in Book1, this also had lot of action in last part. Last part felt like way too rushed. We still don’t get much details about other courts. No intriguing secondary characters. Temper intrigued me in book1, definitely not in this. Janus and Malakai weren’t so bad. Language was horrible. The mix of Contemporary and historic setting, didn’t sit well with me at all. Narration was ok ok.At some point this book felt like a draft copy than final version. Lagged in editing to a greater extent. High level plot and mystery was the only motivation for me to finish this, yet, none of the mystery gets solved.Overall, you won’t miss anything much even if you skip this book and directly jump into next one in series. Only reason for me to pick next book is to see how the mystery unfolds. The book had potential but the execution was bad.

Really good follow up
This is a unique series. Nice writing and grammar. Great story line that's new, compared to most things I read. Intriguing characters and environments. I've started book three. Hope you give this series a try.

The world building 💜
Beautifully written. Fantasy and love. The 2nd in the Bargainer series is wonderful! I cannot wait to read the rest of the series. I thought the 4 Horseman was magnificent...this definitely is equal to it
