Very handy, easy to use but loud on hard floors.
I purchased this stick vac because we were selling our house and 75% of the floors in our house are hard surfaces. I own a Dyson Animal for the carpet, which does a great job picking up pet fur if you have been looking for one of those, but I wanted something light weight and easy to use without extra attachments needed to do the job. Which the Dyson has but are a pain in the butt to have because they don't attach to the machine so you have to put them somewhere in the house; the suction is so strong the vacuum follows you right on your heels! The Hoover vacuum is light weight it allows me to quickly push it around the floor to get all the pet hair and it also picks up crumbs from our messy kids. It is very loud when running on the hard floors. So if you're looking for a quite quick vac, THIS IS NOT IT! It has always been loud, right out of the box. And I did expect it, it's a vacuum and my other is also loud on the hard floor there is no carpet to muffle the sound. So don't expect a quiet vacuum. It will pick up glitter, cat litter, 1/2 inch size pieces of dog food, dried grass clumps, and pet hair off of the area rugs. It doesn't have great side suction, you have to be head on when sucking stuff up but the small brushes along the edge that are supposed to sweep stuff into the suction line actually push stuff away from the base boards so you will have to go back and vacuum that up. But when using this on a daily basis it's not that big of a deal. Our down stairs is the biggest mess, where everyone is coming in from the yard. The pets spend most of their time down there, everyone tracks dirt and grass in from the yard, the cat drags her litter our of her box, the kids mess with the dog food when they are down there playing with their toys, and the dog has his own area rug to sleep on and he sheds big time! The head on it is small enough to fit between the base of the commode (toilet) and the side of the bath tub, the pivot action allows you to get it around behind the commode, too. It does an okay job on the stairs if the beater bar was slightly larger it would do a great job but I did buy it for the hard floors. So now I'll break it down to my pros and cons.Pros: Size is great length is perfect for my 5' 6" frame, weight is perfect for carrying up and down stairs in a tri-level home, and pushing around the house very quickly.-The suction is great for a stick vac, compared to ones I've had that were cord less, so I assume it is from the cord. None the less it's great for picking up everything you want to and somethings you don't intend to pick up.-The specific pivot action is great for getting around objects like the commode in the bathroom, end tables and other furniture that are difficult to move.Cons: The cord could be another 1-2 feet longer.-It's very loud! It's not just the humming of the vacuum on the hard floors but it also makes a loud motor sound that is not an actual mechanical problem it's just from using the brushes on the hard floor. WHICH the directions say DO NOT use the brushes on a hard floor BUT in order to pick up anything other than pet fur you HAVE to use the brushes, so that's a con.-If you bump the vacuum a little too hard the canister will pop off! It doesn't happen often but customers should be made aware of that!So in total, I really like this vacuum because all the pros outweigh the cons. It makes cleaning up daily and right before we have leave for a showing so much easier! This is the vacuum I've suggested to friends that are getting ready to sell their house, too. Get it, it's so worth the money because it actually saves you so much time!

Packed properly and delivered quickly in pristine condition
The more I use my new vac, the more pleased I am with its performance. It does indeed get into corners and edges as indicated; however, I shall still have to use smaller hose-type handheld to get into very tight spaces. It is best vacuum for small apartment or backup/quickie for house/larger space with more than ample suction for short-pile rugs and tile floor. It is a great design when you need it to just stand by itself. The manner it is emptied seems healthier for our lungs and yet the filter pad seems to work fine: for me, better than a hepa and saves replacement inconvenience/money. I am very glad I purchased this Hoover corded version from Amazon. UPDATE: My vac continues to function great and I continue to feel great about my wise purchase... UPDATE:I purchased this and later added the Eureka EasyClean Corded Hand-Held Vacuum, 71B and Eureka DCF11 Quick Up Washable & Reusable Dust Cup Filter and the Micro Vacuum Attachment 7-PIECE SET. Everything fits and works perfectly together. Now, I have inadvertently put together my ideal vacuuming system. This includes this Hoover Cyclonic Stick Vac. Wow! This is proving to be great cleaning power albeit lightweight and all only costing me a total under $150. It also takes a minimal amount of storage space. Please note that I only have ceramic tile floor and few rugs, but all cannot be easier to keep immaculately clean. I value all four separate items of my Vacuuming System along with Amazon for offering to me at great prices with wonderful customer service.

Nice for floors and carpet. Versatile and good performance.
This is a very nice stick vacuum. It works very nicely on hard floors and carpet. I do wish it had ten feet more cord. I use an inexpensive thin extension cord since it doesn't pull all that much current. I do find when using it on hard floors with the brushes off, it pays every few minutes to raise it up off the floor and flip on the brushes a couple seconds. The brush collects stuff which this clears away. If you don't, eventually some of it drops off the brush when you lift and move the vacuum. The instructions could be better, and the fit of the removable cyclonic section isn't great though it does function. When you remove that to empty what has been picked up you can also twist and remove the orange spinning vane to dump out what has gotten into the second chamber. The instructions never mention this. Cleaning and dumping the debris is pretty much a breeze. Suction is pretty good. Maybe not the only vacuum you need for heavy carpet though it performs pretty well even there. Now when I first opened it the construction and materials seemed so flimsy you get a bad impression. I figured it would be no good. I do wonder about longevity, but so far it performs better than expected. Great replacement for brooms on flooring and good for maintenance vacuuming on carpeting. The swivelling head seems well thought out and is very handy for manouvring around objects. Very light, and handy. I find I use it much more often than my big vacuum. Keeps my place nicer until the deep cleanings with heavier duty gear. Might be the only thing needed for a college dorm or small apartment.
