Also, what would happen if after that accident the other car involved blamed everything on me and/or fabricated the story when it actuality it was their fault or they make it sound like it was a million times worse than what it was? This actually happened to me 8 years ago. My boyfriend at the time was driving my car, he didn't see a row of cars stopped in front of us, he slammed on the breaks and we bumped the car in front of us. BUMPED, truly we only bumped the car. The lady got out all crazy saying that she was basically going to die, there was no damage to either car. Not even a scratch yet this lady made it sound like she was going to die. I wish I would have had this camera then to show the ridiculousness of this lady. She claimed that she could no longer work, etc etc. It came out to that our insurance fought her and did not pay her a penny. She totally overreacted but again a camera like this would have helped make this process less of a disaster! This camera is very high quality, very easy to install and everything I could have asked for! The screen is very clear and the camera is very easy to program. The video taken is exceptional, actually it surprised me how unbelievably clear and high quality the video taken is. I am also very happy with the fact that the charger for the camera has a USB port on the outside of it so the camera can be plugged into the car charging port as well as another device. What a wonderful feature! The camera starts when you start the ignition and stops when you shut it off, great feature! The price for this camera is incredible for the product that you are getting. This is a great product and you will not be disappointed!I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for a truthful and unbiased review which I have provided above. UPDATED 9.10.17So after my not so great experience with this dash cam, the seller contacted me with some info on how there's a 1% defective rate on these dash cams and that the one I received was probably one of the 1%. I give that +1 star for customer service since they actually monitor the inputs of their products and reached out to me. I was sent a newer replacement, which turns out to be the NEXGADGET Dash Cam with 170° Wide-Angle Lens, Dashboard Camera Recorder with G-Sensor, WDR, Loop Recording when I searched online. I gave that one a thorough testing (about 3 weeks) and the overall quality was pretty good. Pictures are crisp and clear during the day 5 out 5 , but quality at night is ok 3 out of 5 (most budget dash cams are not phenomenal on night quality). I did not notice any blurry or distortions caused by the hot socal heat. Overall the lens quality used in these dash cams (I assume both models use the same quality of lens) are like night and day compared to the defective dash. So this passes my budget dash cam test.OLD REVIEW:I had high hopes for this dash cam after reading all the reviews. For me this is just an ok dash cam, for the price I expect it to be at least decent quality. I'd say this is comparable to those $20 dash cams you can find here. The unit itself is nice and heavy. And that's about all the good things. The video quality is horrible, even when I set it to the sharpest setting and the highest resolution, all I see are blurry images. Can't read license plates, and when I'm driving on the freeway it can read the signs ONLY when I'm almost underneath the sign. It is also a mess during night time. Images are not clear at all. I live in Cali so I'm not sure if the cruddy footage is from the Cali heat (I hear dash cams lose focus when it gets hot, especially the non-capacitor models). But overall, after testing this out for a month, I am so over the cruddy video quality. Oh and this thing records in AVI files if anyone is concerned about the file format.

One big fat LIE. Amazon, why do you let the manufacturer post these fake positive reviews for themselves. Big waste of my time. The video quality is horrible. There is no resolution at all. It is impossible to read tag numbers or street signs. The item says it has a F1.6, six layer lens made by Micron in the USA. Another big fat lie. The purpose of a nice lens is to cut down on glare. With this camera, all headlights glare so badly you can barely see the car behind them. I am so sick of sellers posting fake positive reviews hoping someone will buy this crap and keep it. By the way, the display lost pixels on day one. Save yourself time and effort and DO NOT BUY THIS FAKE, USELESS PRODUCT. THANKS FOR NOTHING. HERE IS A VIDEO PROVING HOW TERRIBLE THE VIDEO IS.
