Short but powerful video on love
This is a very short but powerful video that discusses three Hebrew words for love and why they are important for marriage. I have found the video on the internet, but for the low price it is worth it to have the DVD.

What do you love?
The second Nooma video is flame and quite frankly has more to do with sex than anything else, which is fine, it's just not where I am right now. But watching the video did make me think about something else. What did Jesus say to Peter when he asked, "do you love me?" [John 21] We always give the sermon using the 2 Greek words don't we? As if at that moment Jesus was speaking Greek to Peter. Highly doubtful for such an intimate moment. I think we can use Greek studies when we read Paul and for some other passages, but we need to be careful when we translate Greek to English for the things that Jesus spoke... unless we have a good idea that the Greek word used and the Hebrew word used were similar. We can sound pretty smart when we start with, "now the Greek word here says," but we can look pretty stupid if we are doing it for 'smart-sounding' sake. The scriptures do record Jesus asking agape the first two times, and phileo last - but it would be an interesting conversation to hear in the original language. One of Rob's points was we lose the meaning of the word `love' when we use it for so many things. Unlike the Greek and Hebrews we don't have more than one word for love, but we seem to have more than one definition.I love my wifeI love tacos[it's true, I really do love tacos]But maybe the answer isn't using better words, but in using better expressions of that love. In other words, if I love my wife more than tacos [which I do] then how do I show that, communicate that? or do I? How can my intensity for the things I love more come through in how I live.Supposedly, I should love God more than my wife, right? Well, how does that play out in how I express that love? Do I spend time with God? Laugh with God? Cry with God? Write to God? Listen to God?How much more does my life reveal the things that I love the most? How could someone tell what I was truly passionate about?

One of his best
One of Rob Bell's best out of the Noooma collection. start here, start anyway, but don't miss seeing these. Rob Bell connects with you as if he is talking just to you. Every one I have seen has been immensely helpful. They have strengthened my beliefs, clarified my doubts, uplifted me. Adding 4 more of Rob Bell's DVD's to my Christmas list today. Already have Name (no. 18), Flame (no.2), Dust (no.8), and Rain (no.1---awesome, start there if you can). they are all great and can be viewed in any order. Thanks Rob Bell for enriching my life and my children's lives. You are truly a fellow traveler on this journey with us. Thanks for sharing yourself through your insight and revelations.

Burning As One...
Flame is the second movie in the Nooma series. It looks at love through the three Hebrew words used to express the idea of love in the Song of Songs. It also relates these three loves, or "flames," to our lives today.Flame is a great movie and a powerful small group resource--but it is not for the faint of heart. It does not pull any punches.None of the Noomas do for that matter. As a movie, Flame is one of my favorite Noomas. As a small group resource (I watched it and talked through the conversation guide with the men's group I lead) Flame can be tricky. These are deep waters and sometimes people get a little scared or gun-shy.You have to draw them out.For all of you small group leaders out there: if you are looking for a great curriculum or resource, look no further. Flame, and the rest of the Noomas can be--as long as the group is led honestly and in reliance upon God--life-transforming.

Amazing film
This short video is extremely powerful. My then boyfriend, now fiance, and I saw this for the first time at a conference where Ryan Dobson showed it before he began his wonderful talk. We were so moved by the honesty, truth, and beauty of it that we plan to show this at our wedding.I highly recommend this to youth pastors, coordinators, or church plant leaders to show to their teens and young adults. It's incredibly stark and blunt but shows how God created love and how deep it really is. Really punches you in the stomach and grabs your attention from the very beginning.

Simple, Yet Effective
What can I say, this is a little film with a big message. Rob Bell does an amazing job of communicating truth in a way which is impactful and insightful. This is a great resource for people who are involved with mentoring high school and college age believers. Once you have seen one NOOMA film you will want to own them all.

Great for All Couples
For a short video, it is very powerful. As a minister, I show it to all couples I am counselling before their marriage. Some have even used quotes from it in their ceremony. It reminds us of all facets of love involved in a couple's love.
