Good quality
These are a good quality, professional-grade pencil. I'm a student, though and find them a bit picky for learning. Just a bit harder than the other brand I bought. But wonderful, neutral colors. This set will overlap the other sets for colors, so unless you are going to use a lot of browns, you might want to just buy the larger set with more colors to begin with.

These are the best colored pencils on the market!
Please help my daughter make the most beautiful drawings and shading art projects for school. Make sure you buy the special sharpener that goes with it so that you preserve these pencils and get the most use out of them.

Fantastic colored pencils
I love the range of colors in this pack of colored pencils. They perform incredibly well, and have an almost creamy texture when using on paper. You can blend the colors and layer them to get a myriad of color variants in your drawing. These pencils sharpen well, meaning you won't grind away half of your pencil because it breaks. These leads hold up to serious use/pressure and don't snap when you are using them for fine or bold heavy lines.

Color Pencils for Skin Tones
Richly colored pencils for portraits.I guess the question most potential buyers would ask is "how do these compare to other pencils?" I do not have that much experience with too many other brands other than Crayola. Compared to the Crayola, these pencils tend to have stronger, brighter colors. More saturated. You can lay down the color with less pressure and less work. Blending also seems just a bit easier. The pencils are softer. They break easier and wear down quicker. I suppose that is the trade off. You can try different pencils sharpeners to give you the right balance between angle, precision, and strength. Too sharp of a point will break. I use an old Staedtler manual sharpener and it has been a good compromise.I am new at this hobby and these pencils probably deserve a more delicate hand. However, that has not stopped me from enjoying them. You can draw and create your own art. You can also purchase one of the gorgeous adult coloring books and color away. I have the Manga set and this set of the Prismacolors. I also have a set of Crayolas. Try them and see which ones appeal to you. I bought this set to make the skin colors more realistic on my coloring books.Highly recommended.

Amazing, but....
I was actually very surprised when I purchased this. Usually, when I purchase Prismacolor sets, I get some pencils with off-centered leads or weak wood casing that would crack when I sharpen them; these factors make it hard to sharpen the lead to a fine point and sometimes render the pencils useless. However, this was not the case for me with this purchase. All of pencils sharpen to a fine point, and they never break. There are some internal breakages, but I did not buy mine from an Amazon warehouse, instead, I purchased it from an ordinary Amazon seller, and thus that may have accounted for the internal breakages since the seller did not place bubble wrap or anything to cushion the pencils in my package. (I use Derwent battery operated electric pencil sharpener.) The colors did go on smoothly, however, there were a lot of wax build-up as I layered my colors down. However, I am still satisfied because despite the wax build-up, I was able to layer many colors and blend many colors; I was also able to color in the tiny details like I wanted. The only con I see is the lack of certain colors. I wish they included more colors for the skin tone. Even though they had many colors for skin and portrait, they lacks other colors as well. I had to purchase some that were not in the set open stock. These are the skin-related colors that were not included in the set. (These colors are also needed for Ann Kullberg's portrait instructions):1. Pumpkin Orange (PC1032)2. Deco Pink (PC1014)3. Mineral Orange (PC 1033)4. Beige Sienna (PC 1080)5. Sienna Brown (PC 945)6. Chocolate (PC 1082)7. Putty Beige (PC 1083)8. All of the French Greys9. All of the Cool Greys10. All of the Warm Greys
