U.S Toy Company Feather Parrot Decoration, 12-Inch

I needed/wanted something like this for my pirate outfit. Darn little thing looks pretty good! Size is great for sitting on my shoulder. Feathers are plastic but folks still come up to me to see if it's real. How'd I get it to sit on my shoulder, you ask? I glued rare earth magnets to its feet and then I tape a small scrap of metal to my shoulder under my shirt. If you are looking for a child's toy, I suspect it would be a short-lived toy. But since I don't really handle it much, it's working perfectly for me.

The parrot itself is beautiful but it arrived with a broken beak, not too surprising because it is made from styrofoam. I used super glue to fix the beak, it looks great so I am still very happy with the purchase and look forward to using it for Halloween.

I bought this to add a little decoration to my office for Halloween. The bird is roughly the shape of a parrot, and has a stiff foam body covered in feathers that feel real enough. While I think it's a good little decoration for the price, there were a few things that would've moved it from a four star to a five star.First, there were a handful of small feathers that were just sort of randomly placed on the bird, which gave it a really incomplete and sloppy look. I was able to fix it with some scissors, which was fine, but it was a little difficult to get it to look right.Second, the parrot comes with little paper clip like metal protrusions at the bottom of the talons, which I think is supposed to be to help hold it up. They were brittle and I broke them pretty quick so I had to improvise. Maybe put the little paper clip metal things inside of the talons so the bird can grab onto stuff instead? Or use a more flexible material for the little protrusions to allow it to grab onto stuff without breaking.Other than that, great little decoration. I wouldn't count on using it to hang off of your shoulder, but it works fine enough hanging off of a monitor or shelf (with appropriate improvisation.)

This clip on bird was just what I was looking for to attach to my garden flag. I'm sure the flag will last longer, but the bird can easily be replaced since it's not expensive at all. Added that little touch to make it different.

I ordered this for Parrot for my husbands Pirate Halloween costume, as a prop for his shoulder. I knew what I was getting based on the reviews, which are pretty accurate. The colors are great, he looks like a Parrot, is very good sized and he has a wire for attaching him to something, on the bottom of each foot. His price point, was one of the cheapest I could find for the size and color of the bird. The weight is very light (which is good if you are going to put him on your shoulder and want him to stay there), and it does appear to be real feathers of some sort that are glued onto the styrofoam "innards". However, they spread the feathers so thin on this guy, that the white styrofoam ball, that is his head, shows through; His eyes were crooked and too far back on his body. I rectified the feather situation with a green marker, and repositioned his eyes. Also, I am going to have to hot glue his legs to the styrofoam body to insure his legs dont come out of the styrofoam body. Both his eyes and his feet are pins that stick into the styrofoam. If they had labeled this an "Ornament" I would have given a higher rating, but it is label as a "toy". There is no way this would endure any sort of "playing with" by a child.

I love this bird, actually one of the feet slipped out but I glued it back in there, the wires work great, it looks real, all the drunk people ask me if it's a real bird and when they get close they see it's not real.

I got this to go with my daughters pirate costume for Halloween an am strongly dissatisfied with it. I understand you get what you pay for but this is ridiculous. It looks like it was put together in the dark, we could have made one ourselves that looked better. It "feathers" are cut an gluded on very poorly, there was no attempt at trying to make it look nice at all. Clumps of glue are all over it with other things stuck to it. Some of the feather are missing showing patches of Styrofoam. And on top of it the eyes are not even close to being even with one another. No wonder this item cant be returned, everyone would if they got such a poor quality item. Not inpressed by this it should be pulled from the site. It gets zero stars!

I had cataract surgery on the very day we had an event to attend in Hell, MI. I wanted to go but was wearing a patch that covered the eye that had the surgery. So, I thought what can I do to make others laugh. Since pirates are a "theme" in Hell I thought I would wear a pirate hat, an eye patch and have a parrot on my shoulder. This parrot was a hit. It is small but worked perfectly since I am only 5 foot tall. Friends made sure it was sitting just right on my shoulder and it looked up at me like it was listening to what I was saying. I had lots of people come up and say how great the outfit was and they especially loved the parrot.
