Perfect
I've had this brush for over a year now, and it has been perfect for cleaning and ex-foliating my back and shoulders. Cotton shirts suck moisture out of the pores, tending to leave them clogged with solids, followed by pimples, etc. I like the stiffness, though it seemed a bit a bit harsh at first. I don't know if I have adapted to the brush or if it has gotten slightly softer with use. My advice for those who find it too stiff is to press it against very fine sandpaper in such a way that the brush ends are nearly parallel to the surface and move it around a bit to thin and soften the tips. Don't overdo it, though.Update September 2024: After seven years, it was still perfect until I dropped it on a hard floor and broke off part of the head. I ordered an identical one, and the new one seemed much too harsh. Most likely the old one had gotten softer as is wore down, and my skin has gotten thinner since I turned 80. No problem, I took my own advice. Rubbed the new one on a fresh piece of black 320 grit sandpaper (black so that you can observe the white powder indicating plastic removal) while pressing hard enough to bend the bristle ends almost 90 degrees and to remove material from the sides of the bristles. Side to side and forward and back. By the second treatment, after checking in the shower, it is perfect again.

Good brush, decent quality and works well
This brush is of decent quality and works well. It has a pretty good reach and the brush bristles are stiff enough to clean well and remove dead skin, but not so stiff as to hurt you. It has a cord on the end of the handle so it can be hung easily. Mine had a clear plastic handle. If it were a bit cheaper, I'd give 5 stars, but a good solid 4 stars and a fair value shipped free via Prime. It makes a great back scratcher, too.2016-11-20 Update: Raised my review rating to 5 stars after further consideration and reading a fair and valid comment on my review. While 4 stars (I like it) is a good rating, I agree that for the price 5 stars is reasonable. My brush has held up well (I only use it occasionally, but still, it's well made and will last you a long time).

Simple brush, stays clean, works well
The bristles are firmer than I'd have liked but I didn't want them too soft either so this worked out pretty well.. The handle is just the right length and shape.

A nice stiff back brush.
If you are like me and have ended up with many of the soft, froufrou things masquerading as back brushes in your search to find a stiff bristled back brush; then look no further. I searched around on Amazon and found 2 brushes that looked promising because the negative things that people had to say about them were that the bristles were too stiff. I ordered both of them and I prefer the other one because the head is larger, but because of the smaller head on this one it is possible to put more force into scrubbing if desired. This is the less expensive of the two brushes and it certainly does the job well enough.

Hard Bristles / Poor Grip
This is just an average long reach brush you could probably find a comparable one at the dollar store. I really like the curve of the brush as I use it to scrub my back. The curve helps the brush to hit the right areas. The bristles are very hard and it really exfoliates and scrubs with a rough feeling. This is not a gentle brush. The handle is another poor design. The handle does not allow you to get a good grip on the brush when your hands are wet or soapy. I always have to make sure I have no soap on my hands when using the brush because the plastic handle will slip out of my hands when brushing. I use this brush daily so I can say even though its a plastic brush it is very durable. I have dropped it many times and its still holding up well. The bristles do distort after some use but it does not affect the use of the brush. Lastly, the bumps on the back of the brush head are useless. Overall it's a durable yet uncomfortable brush.

They changed to the dollar store brush.
Took me about eight different orders to find a brush with a firm hard handle and firm bristles. I thought this was gonna be easy since the last round headed brush was perfect. So, I ordered again. I rec’d another dollar store brush that’s so cheap it’s lighter than air.

It's exactly as advertised, a good quality exfoliating brush with bristles that aren't too tough.
When I was reading reviews for this brush I kept hearing that they were stiff, uncomfortable, and painful. However, I went ahead and gave it a shot because I had a feeling some people might just not be used true exfoliation and I'm glad I did.The first thing I did when I got the brush was to run my hand over the bristles, and to my surprise they're actually pretty soft. They are flexible and responded to my hand without much effort. They weren't painful to rub over my palms either and were actually rather ticklish.Using it in the shower, the bristles hold up well. They do not get softer in the shower and are indeed rather firm, but perform their job of exfoliating perfectly.I have two complaints. First, the brush head bends toward you due to the shape of the handle, which makes it a little bit awkward when trying to reach every part of your back. The second is that the bristle bunches are spread out so when you try to put body wash on it, it will seep deep into the grooves and not completely lather up.Overall though, this is a great brush and I like the quality of the bristles.

Not good enough for me.
I had to replace my back brush after several months of use... so I decided to go the cheap route.Mistake!!!This is in no way a soft bristle brush, and I can only describe it as feeling like one of those wire brushes that you use to clean grills. It HURTS! Even when applying the lightest pressure. It also doesn't lather that well on the first try. I had to put soap on it several times before it would get the slightest lather, whereas my natural bristle brush took only the smallest amount. I use a special soap for body break outs, and it is a little pricey, so using more is not an option!I gave it a two instead of one star rating because they did get the ergonomics right. It is comfortable to hold and even though it is small and shorter than other brushes I have owned, it has a good comfortable reach on it.It isn't for me though. My skin is way too soft and delicate and I will be returning this and just buying a natural bristle brush again.
