Good press built in Mexico
I'm not sure how people break the handle off these things after reading reviews.I ordered some legit nixtamal masa made from heirloom corn (not the masa harina junk in the store) and made my own tortillas for the first time. I'm a gringo but grew up and currently live in Southern California so I know a thing or two about Mexican food- I'm also an avid cook.Tortilla making takes a little practice. The masa needs to be wet but not sticking to your fingers. If it's too wet, mix in a little more masa (I use a stand mixer). If it's too dry, add a little more water. Tortillas need moisture to "puff" when frying. No puff, not enough moisture.Take a gallon size ziplock freezer bag and cut it into two squares. Put one down on the bottom of the press and put another on top of the dough before you close it.Roll the dough into a golf sized ball. Once you put the dough ball on top of the first plastic sheet, put the other one on top and squish it a bit. Gently close the top of the press and just using your hands, press it down. Using the handle to give it a little final press but fairly gently.Open 180 degrees, press lightly, flip, press, rotate, press. It takes a little practice but believe me, you can make tortillas as thin as you want with this press. If the tortilla is sticking to the press it might be too wet, or you pressed too hard, or its just TOO thin. Again, it takes a little experimentation. Check out some youtube videos.Solid press- if your tortillas don't turn out the way you want, it's because of your skills. This press is awesome.

a very fine choice
Every once in a while I purchase an item that works so well and is so useful that every time I use it I feel like I'm getting a first prize for good judgement. This is one of those purchases. It is simple, effective, sturdy, easy to use and proof that I am a person of discernment. And making flattened breads is a wonderful way to use leftovers, so there's that.

Worth every penny if used correctly!
This is so much better than a rolling pin! The weight of the cast iron makes it easy to press and it is making consistently round and thin tortillas. I don't even have to do a second turn and press! This guy is a game changer. Super worth it! Just remember to ALWAYS USE PLASTIC WRAP OR PARCHMENT PAPER! the dough should never be in direct contact with the press. Would recommend this to everyone. I've already made carnitas tacos and breakfast tacos! Never buying pre made ever again!

Nice with a tiny bit of manufacturing issue
This is a solid tortilla press, and the first purchase of this type for our household. It is made in Mexico. We watched several videos about preparing the dough and what a difference from store bought corn tortillas! Excellent! The only disappointment I have is in the aluminum finish. It was not as complete as I would like - the surface was not completely smooth with small gaps. I was concerned initially this would be an issue and would have to return. But, we followed the tip about cutting open a large ziploc bag and pressing between the bag. We’ve had no issues. I’m a germophobe to an extent, and it doesn’t bother me to use in this manner. If you have a griddle, you can prepare 3/time. One/time is time consuming but they store in the fridge for a week. The yield is about 19, and a little time in for the results are worth it regardless. I’ll never buy grocery store tortillas again. Lay it on a towel when pressing. And we store it in a cloth bag in the pantry.

Authentic Mexican Tortilla Press
This tortilla press is heavy and will likely become a family heirloom. Simple construction without unnecessary moving parts.. I'm sure it will last for generations.

Authentic
I really wanted this to make authentic corn tortillas but sadly it does press it unevenly so I have to turn the masa multiple times. It’s heavy and good quality but that’s the only fault.

Works well and seems durable
Not sure what kind of metal this is but it's not cast aluminum as too heavy. Anyway it seems sturdy enough as I understand some other product handles break. It's important to keep your dough warm and soft when pressing to get thin tortillas.

NOT MADE IN CHINA
Nice solid cast iron tortilla press, made in Mexico....if you want to make tortilla's, buy one that's made where tortilla's come from.Works very well, just be sure to read the directions and not force the handle! Much better than doing it by hand or rolling pin!

Fleece it out 🌮
Super heavy duty, actually heavy for its size.If you’re a little twerp you might need help lifting it.I almost was a cheapskate and bought the $20 but read the reviews and super happy I spent the extra coin. It’s the most basic tool ever so can’t really say much about that. The pic is me horrified watching a girl I met on Farmers Only dating app eat tacos for the first time on our first date. I dumped her immediately for their taco technique. Bippity boppity gimme the zoppity.

Works great to make flat, round tortillas.
Was using a rolling pin, and even though it only saves a few minutes per tortilla, it really adds up once you are doing 8 or more. I was skeptical about the thickness and the roundness that it would create, but those are perfect every time. Very happy with purchase. By no means necessary, but if you have the space in your kitchen, it is helpful.
