SUNLU Filament Dryer Box S1 for 3D Printer Filament, Keep Filament Dry During 3D Printing, Filament Holder, Storage Box, Dark Grey

Had some of my filament start really print bad and after googling the symptoms it sounded like the filament had too much moisture. So time to try a filament dryerBeing a cynical (and tight) old fart I don't believe most of Amazons reviews (I have a drawer full of wireless earbuds that back me up on this) so looked around elsewhere. There were some pretty good videos that showed comparisons of dryers only a few expensive ones were really good. One guy recommended getting one of these and putting a fan in it to improve circulation and pop a sachet of silica gel in the middle of the spool to grab the moisture. Ok, that ticked my boxes: cheap and tweaked to perform like something far more expensive.Right, to cut to the chase this has worked on all but one of my filaments. It's made most print a whole lot better, revived one that was what I thought was bin fodder but could not fix one (glow in the dark pla ).It does take a while to cook the filament but it is a lot cheaper that buying new and a lot less fuss that vacuum baggies. You can print a nice little fan mount and silica gel holder on thingiverse and buy buckets the gel on here dirt cheap.

As I was getting to the end of a 1kg reel, after several months of occasional use, it was clear that the print quality was dropping off and the PLA was snapping when stressed. So I thought I would give this dryer a go, and after 6 hours of heating (default) there was a marked improvement in the material flexibility and print quality. So I gave it another 6 hours and could see yet further improvements. So if it takes a while for you to get through a reel, or you have some colours that are only used occasionally, I would recommend getting one of these, to ensure that your PLA has not taken on moisture. Particularly if you are trying to print at speed, when the quality of your PLA material really starts to count.

Good for the price, but not the most robust unit. Does not have a fan to circulate air but I knew that before I bought it. User interface is ok, instructions could have been clearer. All in all, a pretty good unit. Does what it says on the box.

Great investment. Revived my brittle filament in the space of a few hours. Would definitely recommend

I’m very impressed with this box. It dries out PET G and PLA effectively and has improved print quality greatly. It is compact and modern so much tidier than a food dehydrator. I have used this for over a year across two printers and continue to do so.

At first I was hesitant to spend £50 on what is basically a mini oven but I kept getting problems with my prints and after replacing every part, I decided to try this in case it was my filament that was the problem.This thing works better than expected. I kept it running for 3 hours before print, PLA, 45°, and then let it continue throughout the next print. The results were better than I thought, if you look at the pictures you will see a before and after. Notice the tyre track marks on the Zombie Captain without the dryer compared to the Logan with the dryer.I would definitely recommend getting this if your filaments have taken on moisture.

The media could not be loaded.  I have previously ordered the white version of this product through my work and it turned up and was perfect. Silent and worked as it should. I ordered a black one for personal use and it turned up with excessive noise from what sounded like a fan. I contacted SUNLU and sent them a decibel reading and they confirmed it was defective and to return. They said Amazon has been sending out previously returned products to customers... They have complained to Amazon about this issue and it is obviously still happening as I have reordered one which arrive today with the exact same issue!! I would avoid until they have confirmed the issue has been resolved.

Element is at the bottom and temp in the box stays very low as it stops heating at 55c (sensor next to element). You'd probably want to be rotating the filament periodicallyEasy to buy a cheapo fan and stick it on the back, can wire it to the main power supply with a splitter. Helps circulate the air and dry more evenly. Very cost effective with that mod

I did not notice it has 2 separate holes for filament to come out of while having the lid closed so that was a pleasant surprise. Would buy again!

Está horrible el carrete no gira bien dentro de la caja, arruinó dos impresiónes y la temperatura dice 55 grados pero no es real

No esperaba milagros pero por ahora el resultado es muy bueno, he tenido un rollo que abrí hace un año, casi un día entero a 50 grados y ha mejorado muchísimo la calidad de impresión, el rollo tenia mas humedad que PLA pero lo ha ido secando, con cada 5 horas de secado imprimía una pieza de prueba e iba viendo como mejoraban los acabados con cada impresión, fantástica maquina!

Het apparaat doet goed zijn werk ,blijft goed staan op de ingestelde temperatuur ,ik heb de donkere grijze nu gekocht en daar zit wel een ingebouwde ventilator in, die lichtjes hoort voor mij niet hinderlijk.
