ORIJEN Dry Cat Food, Cat & Kitten, Biologically Appropriate & Grain Free

DO NOT BUY!!!!Our cats have been on Orijen for many years and I have told everyone that this is one of the best foods on the market. We received our first bag of the "new recipe" Kentucky made and it made out cats very ill! Vomiting, Diarrhea and just very listless. One of our cats has CKD and she had to go to the emergency vet. The vets were puzzled so she (our cat) went to the vet school and we spoke with several veterinary nutritionists and this food was determined to be the cause. I will never put my babies on this food again! We are now going back to Fromm.

We bought this brand 3 times, trying to get our 3 cats on a better diet. One of our cats health declined slowly over the 3 bags. We never put 2 and 2 together.Long story short, after ER visit, peeing blood, many regular vet visits, peeing all over our stuff, not being able to poop for a week, many-many tests, stress for everyone in our house, we figured out it was the food. As soon as his vet changed him to Royal Canin, within days our boy started getting better. I didn’t want to believe a food with such good reviews and 70.00 a big bag would be bad for some cats. We threw out about 50.00 worth of what we had left.Be careful, read all reviews, maybe don’t buy your pets food from unknown sources and remember cats are very sensitive and any little change can be life or death.

My cat has been eating the 5 star Canadian Orijen formula for 2 years. She loves it and I have nothing to say but great things about the Orijen product made in Canada. My local distributor told me that ALL U.S. retailers are now required to purchase the NEW formula made in Louisville, Kentucky I bought one 4 Lb. bag of the new Kentucky stuff. My cat began vomiting the new stuff and her stools were something different. Her coat became dull and dry. I mentioned this to the retailer and he gave me a talk about how great the new Kentucky plant was. I was able to obtain more of the Canadian product and within a week the cat was back to her old self. No more vomiting, same old stools and her coat is like shiny velvet again. When she's happy, I'm happy. I compared the ingredients on the bags and you can see where the difference is. I'd give the new food minus one star if I could. I will NEVER buy the U.S. formula again and I'm not the only one. You'll see more bad reviews for the new stuff if you look around a little.

Thank you all for letting me know why my cats have been throwing up for the last few months. I can't believe this trash. Orijen, never again!

My cat ate this food for over a year just fine. They recently moved production to Kentucky. When we switched her to the new bag of food, she started getting struvite crystals.If you're a continuous user and want to buy a new bag, don't go for the 12lb right away; make sure your cat is OK with the new product by testing a smaller, cheaper size first.

I didn't realize they changed the location this was being made at. My Savannah cat is throwing up constantly now and his coat is drying out. Do not buy this food unless it's the original one made in Canada.

I have fed my cat this food for over a year, and I too am upset over the "people in the United States have to buy Orijen in the U.S. now" thing. I have seen a marked change in my cat, his coat used to be so shiny and he had tons of energy. But after feeding him a bag of food this last time, after I saw his coat go dull, the fact that he vomited at couple times after eating, and less energy. THAT is when I checked the bag and it said, "Made in the USA in our Kentucky kitchens!"What? No anouncement to tell us that they switched, we had to find out for OURSELVES. And we DID check the bag after our pets started having problems they did not have before eating this U.S. made Orijen. I emailed the company and was told that people in the United States HAVE to buy from the U.S. facility.NOT ME, I will ask sellers if the food is from Canada or not. If yes, I will buy it (I don't care about a higher price) then and if not, I won't. My cat's health is more important than a rule (How can they enforce that??) that I can't buy from Canada anymore. . If you tell me I can't do something, you best believe that I will find a way around it.

アカナとの違いは肉類の比率が高いこと。使っている肉類の2/3以上が新鮮肉で良質なタンパク質であること。部位のわからない○○ミールが含まれていないこと。カロリーオリジン406kcal、アカナ410kcal。３種類の乳酸菌が配合されていることなどがあります。以前はオリジンの方がオイリーでしたが現在は同程度で特別脂っこいということはありません。家には３匹の猫たちがいてアカナや他のグレインフリーのキャットフード併用ですが、オリジンがいちばん食いつきがいいのでローテーションの中心になっています。人間が食べられないものは食べさせられないので自分で食べてみました。体調が悪くなったり下痢することはありませんでした。また、淡白なキャットフードが多い中、味がしっかりしています。甘いとかしょっぱいとか味覚の話ではなく素材の味が濃いです。肉の味のほか魚の風味もしっかりあります。それが猫たちの人気の秘密なのかもしれません。あとフードに白い粉のようなものが付着していますが食いつきがよくなるよう後から吹付けてあるものなので心配いりません。キャットフードは値段が高ければいいと言うものでもなくオリジンは猫たちの体調、吐き戻し、便の状態、尿道炎の有無、アレルギーの有無など試しに試した結果とても良好だったのでこれからも続けていきたいと思います。

生後2ヶ月半頃からオリジンのフードを食べさせていましたがここ最近開封したものはなんか粉っぽい？フードがそこの方で砕けている訳でもなく...しかもよく見ると毛がフードにめり込んでる!?よく確認してみるとこの1粒だけではなく何粒も毛がめり込んだもの、袋からも短い毛が出てきました。心配になったのでメーカーに問い合わせたところ「より自然界に近い食事にする為」とのこと。黒い毛はアンガス牛の毛だそうです。粉っぽいのも食いつきが良くなるようにフリーズドライにした原材料をあとからわざわざ吹き付けているそうです。一年前程からこの製造になっているらしい。だから新しいパックになって急にうんちの臭いがきつくなったのかと。ただ緩くなって下痢っぽい感じにもなっているので製造が変わりうちの子には合わなくなったのかな？(そもそも家猫なので毛を入れるとこまで自然界に近くなくてもな〜と。)参考までにアメリカのAmazonでのレビューも見ましたが製造が変わり猫に良くない症状が、と同じようなことが書いてありました。また製造工程で毛が入るというようなことはパッケージにもホームページにも文書による記載は何処にも見当たりませんでした。(2019.1/28現在)パッケージやホームページに一言書いてあれば心配する必要もないのかな、とは思いますが成分や配合など少しでも変更になった際は猫ちゃんの身体は敏感な子もいると思うので記載などの配慮が欲しいと思います。黒い毛に関してはアンガス牛っていわれてるけど仮に製造中に髪の毛が入って攪拌されたら区別が付かなくなると思うので心配な方はレジオナルレッドは控えたほうがいいと思います...そもそも急に今まで入ってなかった動物の毛が混入してきたら消化不良とかになってもおかしくない。質がいいフードだと思っていただけに残念。試しに違うフードに変えたら下痢っぽいのもなくなりました。もう二度と買わないと思います。

我が家には純血の長毛種がいますが、売れ残って長いことペットショップにいたために、安価なカリカリばかり好んで食べて、とても不憫でなりませんでした。ヨーロッパ産の防腐剤などが入っていないプレミアムフード、総合栄養食のウェットフードや、グレインフリーのドライや半生タイプなど、体に良さそうなものを買って与えてきましたが、食いつきがどうも良くありません。1歳になり、3キロほどしかなく、体もほっそりとしています。元々、決まった時間に、決まった量のご飯しか食べない子です。ペットショップで、母親から早く離され、そのような管理下に長いこといたので、良い習慣なのかもしれませんが、好きなものを美味しそうに沢山食べたりという様子はありませんでした。今回、お試しサイズなので、評価の高いこちらを購入してみました。ナチュラルサイエンス、アニモンダ、ロイヤルカナン、ジゥイヒーク、サイエンスダイエット、カナガン、ジャガーと、全て食い付きが良くなく、特に色がカナガンに似ているので、これも食べてくれないかな？と心配していましたが、食器に移した途端、嬉しそうにやってきて食べ始めました。初めて与えて、物珍しかっただけかもしれませんが、自分からやってきて直ぐに食べたのは初めてなので、とにかく嬉しいです。いつもは警戒して、暫く食べません。香りが強いためでしょうか？ビーフジャーキーに似た香りがします。黒くて、平たい丸の形のハードです。暫く様子をみて、沢山食べてくれるようでしたら、大袋を買って、こちらを与えるようにしてみたいです。パッケージにも、きちんと日本の気候用に湿気対策がされていたり、表示も肉類が筆頭に来ていますので、良さそうな品に感じました。ただ、ジッパーなどはこちらの小袋タイプにはついていませんので、空気が入りにくくなるような、口を保存用のクリップで止めたりしないと酸化してしまうので、数日で無くなる分量ですが、星１つマイナスにしました。

I am very hesitant to rate this 5 stars. I received a bag that was made in their North American kitchen. There are many reviews, cases, reports, and studies done on this cat food. They recently opened a new kitchen in Kentucky or Texas or something (it will say which kitchen it is from on the front of the bag). While the North American kitchen makes great cat food, the food that comes from Texas will make your cat violently ill. It is also very expensive. So, for this reason, I would recommend staying away from this cat food. Even if you receive food from the North American kitchen you can't guarantee that the next bag you buy will be the same (unless you can find it in-stores). Purchase with caution.

Way too overpriced here. I didn’t know that this is readily available in any pet stores for under $70 bucks. I paired total if 97$ including shipping for this bag. Food is known to be good nutrition, but my cat has really sensitive stomach and Origen is known to give cats like these loose stool. My cat has been having diarrhea... now I wasted $97 on this :(. But this food is good for cats with stronger stomach. Just don’t buy it overpriced.
