Cutter is super dull
Cutter that came with this kit was really dull! I wouldn't have known cutting these rubber stamps is so easy if I had been alone, using the cutter. Fortunately, I was with a friend. I had to buy another one at a crafts store. You might be better off just buying some blocks and a cutter from a local crafts store! This is my first amazon review.

Fun to make my own
This was fun for making my own stamps and having something unique to me. Great kit!

Great for a beginner
A great beginner stamp set that comes with just about everything you'll ever need. The ink pads however are sadly lacking in quality, other than that though, it's a great set. Blades were sharp with a good variety of shapes. Plenty of rubber to start with, especially if you cut them to smaller sizes. A good price for how much you get.

Ink takes a while to dry
This is a nice kit. I especially like that it comes with so many colors for the ink pads, some of them even metallic. Compared to other ink pads I've used, these give a much more vibrant color. They're quite liquid-y, though, so I have to let it dry for quite awhile before doing anything with it. When using on cards/envelopes, I have to work ahead. I can't wait to the last minute, or there will be smearing. Other than that, I've been happy with it.

Decent beginner set
My kids LOVE carving stamps. It's really quite soothing and amazing to feel how the carver goes through the rubber. It's addicting. Even my 7 year old likes to try. We've gotten a few sets because each kid wants a set of tools. The tools in this compare to other sets. They're good quality and work well. The rubber is also good quality. But I highly recommend 2 color rubber for beginners. It almost looks like an ice cream sandwich with one color down the middle. What that does, is allow you to know when you've carved deep enough but not too deep. These rubbers are all one color, and that's fine. You can always paint the surface to get a similar effect if you want. It's just once you've tried the dual color rubber sheets, it's hard to go back (when teaching beginners). The roller is good, and heavy. It's not like a cheap playdoh roller. The ink pads are just OK. I love the variety of colors, and how some are metallic. But they're not great ink pads. The tops don't stay on tightly, and the ink isn't consistent. To explain, I posted a photo of 3 different random colors that I "inked" on a piece of paper. I just pressed the entire ink pad on the paper, and use the roller (on the paper) to press the ink down firmly and evenly all the way down. I didn't get a single solid rectangle of ink. It's blotchy. So when you roll the ink, you really need to roll it a few times and press hard. Or if you ink the stamp directly, press it into the ink 3-4 times. The one thing I love about the ink pads is that they stack and snap onto each other. So they take up less room that way. Because the tops don't stay tightly on, I highly suggest stacking them all together and then wrapping with a rubber band or two.Over all, it's a good beginner set.

Carving Set is Good...
...But in this Stamp Carving Kit, the inks in the actual ink stamps are TERRIBLE.The rest of the kit is pretty good. I like the carving tools and the rubber blocks. They are all of decent quality, and I was able to carve some pretty stamps. I could carve some intricate details with the smaller tools, and gouge some larger swathes of rubber with the bigger lino tools. The stamps I made ended up having a good amount of detail. However, when I tried to use the inkpads to get my stamps inked and onto a piece of paper or canvas, the inks just didn't have enough good pigment to get a sharp image onto any other surface. It's a shame, because this kit comes with so many stamps. I ended up using acrylic paint to stamp the images onto canvas (that worked fine, but I had to quickly wipe the rubber).I'm happy to have these tools to use. I'll continue to use these to make more stamps.
