This plane is a steal.
I love this little Plane. It is amazing for the money. I unpacked the great Japanese, oily papered wrappings, instantly put it together. It took a few minutes to tune it and now its my go-to plane in my shop. For beveling edges I love it. It kicks out clean curls of fresh wood and just takes a moment to adjust. I just bought a second one for a friend. This is a tool. You may need to familiarize yourself with planes and their uses before this one is satisfying.

Not bad for the price...
Not a bad little hand plane. Good for chamfering and other small tasks. The iron was dull and had a slight concavity on the bevel, but I was able to hone it to shaving sharp in a few minutes. The price was right, too.

You can find better for a few dollars more
I'm torn with this one as it is the right size for the projects I have planned but I didn't realize until it arrives that the blade is held in place by a wooden wedge alone. This is an issue as the blade is difficult to keep straight and if you can get it straight the second you try to shave the blade and/or wedge come loose. It would be better with a screwdown or the like to keep the blade in place. Thankfully this is something that can be fixed without having to send it back, by adding the screwdown. The blade itself was a bit dull but that was easily fixed with a few rounds on my whetstone and now it is shaving sharp. If you done mind doing a little repair work on. Your tools then this is a decent buy for the price. However for a few dollars more you can have one ready to go out of the box. This item while shipped from in the U.S. is made in China.

Probably would not recommend.this for the following reasons!
I gave this one star because of the mechanics in which the blade is held in place. Simply put, a small wooden wedge, like a shim is forced down against the blade and the plane itself. Problem is, even with light pressure while planeing soft balsawood,, the shim shifts causing the cutting blade to shift too. This forces you to reset the blade. After a few resets, this gets very annoying. They need a better design to manage the blade position so it stays put!
