Sony XA110IP.U iPod HDD Adaptor

Didn't work with my in dash unit, but that was my fault for not checking compatibility.

I have this unit installed in my 1998 Explorer to a Sony Xplode headunit. Overall not a bad product, does not work with Iphones, though, and Ipod touches do not charge on this adapter, so bare that in mind when choosing this product. But with older Ipods, there is not this issue. I can't complain about sound quality, but a small problem with the software is that if your try to scroll through looking for an artist or song and you have numerous, it can take a while because is does not have the ability to use the knob on the radio deck to allow one to scroll through like on the clickwheel of the Ipod. Its easily remedied by disconnecting and scrolling through the Ipod separately. But its a minor inconvenience for the practicality it allows for. Overall, pretty satisfied with the product. Would recommend to others as an upgrade to their car stereo system.

Read the reviews thinking this product was going to be somewhat faulty, but to my pleasure it works like a charm! Took less than 5 mins to install. It even works for my stereo from 2004 (CDX-F7700) AND starts from where the song left off on ignition. The only minor complaint I have is to be able to scroll through songs by alphabet letter. But, for 8 bucks this works and sounds 100x better than the headphone jack I was using

I installed this Sony iPod Adapter to my Sony BT-5100 and worked for fine for the first day; however, after that the right channel speaker didn't have any sound coming out of them. Of course I played the tuner and CD player and it played music out of both L/R channels. I've owned many Sony products, but I think this has been the first defective product I've purchased. The company told me to return it to them with a copy of the email the sent me. It seemed too good to be true for $10.00 since it's normally $50.00. I'm content with streaming music, through Bluetooth, on my Windows Smartphone XV6800. I would not recommend this product.

This is my second iPod interface for a head unit in my Escape. The first one was JVC and I replaced it with the Sony because I wanted Bluetooth. The Sony head unit is easier to use, but the iPod interface is sadly lacking. It does not allow the basic search functions JVC did. It also crashes the iPod regularly. I used to leave my iPod in the glove box for months without touching it. Now I pull it out to reset it almost every day.

This unit 'works' with old iPods and old Sony receivers. My cdx-gt710 shows it connected but it throws everything out of whack. With this unit plugged in it causes the receiver not to turn on with the ignition and also causes my SAT radio to not show up as a source so I have to turn it off and on a few times before it comes up. The iPod always starts at the same beginning song (alphabetically) and it will charge the older iPods such as G1-G3 Nano's but my iPod Touch won't charge. If you have a newer receiver I would suggest buying the xa-120IP. It's newer (replaces the 110IP) and probably supports the newer units. What really brasses me off is that Sony said it would work when I asked their tech support prior to buying this unit. Grrr....

We have a Ford Focus with a Ford/Sony radio in it, and this device will not work as there is not a suitable connector on the back of the radio. So before buying this device it,s worth just popping the radio out and checking.CarAduioSecurity were good enough to accept that the device would not be suitable with this radio and adviced me to reject the delivery and they refunded half the p&p.If you have probs getting the radio removal tools, then Torquesteer sell them for £10.

Although the adapter works perfectly with great sound quality it does not charge a 2nd Gen Ipod Touch. There is also the difficulty of scrolling through numerous tracks to reach your desired song as there is no search function. I feel that with a search or list menu the 110ip could be greatly improved.
