Heats Very Fast
OK, I've been toying with the idea of owning a hot plate to use with my iron cookware and this hot plate is absolutely perfect for my use. It's compact for easy storage and very easy to clean. I was almost put of by comments regard "slow to heat" but I decided to try it for myself and I'm glad I did. The hot plate heated to over 500° in less than a minute - PERFECT. No muss, no fuss, just plug it in, set the dial and cook. I do not prefer cooking on my range because of the mess it can create and I'm a bit of a neat freak so this hot plate works perfectly on my kitchen counter for easy cleanup. I highly recommend checking this one out - the price is right.

Cusimax 1500W Single Burner Hot Plate
The hot plate take slightly longer to heat up compared to a regular stove top electric burner, about 3 to 5 minutes longer to bring a pot of water to boil. Not much of a concern as I just turn the plate on earlier than I normally would with a stove top. When reducing the heat, it take a while for the heat to cycle down. Normally on a regular stove top when your pot is at a rolling boil, when you turn down the heat, the boiling slows down almost immediately. With the hot plate it takes a while for the heat to cycle down so you’ll need to anticipate that in order to avoid over boiling. The slow cycling down of the heat may be a plus as you can turn off the heat sooner and the rest of your food will continue to cook. For instance, I could heat up a frying pan to maximum high, then crack some eggs into it, cover the pan and turn off the hot plate. In about 10 minutes or so, I would now have poached eggs with slightly runny yolks.Spills are easy to clean off the stainless steel surface. Cleaning up spills on the plate itself is not as easy due to the ridged surface of the plate. To remedy that, with a damp paper towel, lift off ( don’t rub) as much of the spill as possible. Anything stuck between the ridges can easily be cleaned out with a toothbrush. The stainless steel surface and the knob do get hot but not hot to the point where it’ll burn your fingers. It’s about the same hotness you would experience with the surface of a regular stove top. The knob moves smoothly through the temperature selections with a light indicator that lights up when the plate has reached your selected temperature.Overall I am very happy with this purchase and I would highly recommend this product.

Bad Heat Control And Dangerous
This is my third attempt to find a hot plate and I had reservations about this one after reading many reviews. I have come to acknowledge that since most of these products are made in China and that quality control is largely non-existent, and that a certain percentage of these products will fail right off the bat, and others are okay and function as intended. For me, this one's a dud. It got up to heat just fine and can boil 40 ounces of water in ten minutes at 7 on the dial. After that, it just kept cycling off/on and wouldn't maintain temperature. The real issue besides that is that not only was the surface of the entire plate so hot as to make sure you didn't accidentally touch it, but the control knob was so hot that I needed my silicone trivet to turn it down. Once down, and cool, I tried to turn it back up.The light was off on the panel, but as soon as I merely touched the knob, the light came on and then off again. Now, between off and "1" on the dial are several progressions of the lower range, but the on light didn't come back on until I got the dial up to "3" or more. What the H*%^? Again touching the dial turned the light back on then off without even turning it. Another plate with a short inside? I didn't want to find out, so it got returned. I'm growing really tired of crappy products with little or no quality control, especially when it comes to electronics.
